The implication here being that we’re paying Bevo a king’s ransom to dish up this nonsense? Good sides have decent assistants and are paying them within the sort cap, how come we’re shopping in the bargain aisles?

The footy department is being horribly run.
 
We are so slow, in all facets of the game. Mundy is still serviceable but he showed a clean set of heels all night to our midfield. Embarrassing. Side note I know why Gaff smacked Andy Brayshaw, he is a campaigner, routinely going in for biff he has no part of.

Our zone was laughable, Freo went from goal square to shot at goal with forwards chips at will. No risky corridor action, just hit up the guy who is was 10m in the clear.

Also Cordy’s papers have been stamped for mine since the Granny but wow that was awful. Keath not much better. Is there a reason Darcy didn’t play on Lobb? Rory is no brute nor is quick?
 
Our defence has been often spoken about but our forward line is a rabble a real mess.

JUH is a natural forward gets in the right positions leads at the right time BUT it’s been so long that we have had a natural forward we don’t recognise it and don’t know how to use them. He should have been used more.

Too many of our forwards get in each other’s way and our small forwards need to concentrate on making tackles stick not fly for marks.

Today was disappointing in that we showed nothing didn’t take the game on and we hoped there would be a spark that was never there especially in front of our home crowd. We just let the game play out without any real intent or urgency

We won't have a review! I have no confidence that anyone at the club except Bevo is decisive and strong. The club will wilt again and let another season be wasted as we hope for an inspirational (and unlikely) run of momentum to win us another flag.

By the way...that's not a proper plan.

Apologies, it may have been negative metres gained by Cordy, not ranking points, but he has done again today, metres gained minus 5, no need to wonder why you lose, when you play him.
 
This list isn’t perfect, god knows I’ve lamented the state of our ruck and KPD stocks, but it has:

  • One of the top five players in the comp.
  • One of the best contested ball/clearance mids in the comp
  • One of the top accumulators in the comp
  • One of the top five young KPFs in the comp
  • One of the best small forwards in the comp (imo at least, Weightman can go missing but he is great when he’s on)
  • Two AA half backs and another who looks on his way to be one

I’ve left English off that list because I’m not a believer, although I know others are. Plus we have JUH and Darcy, whose best footy is obviously in the future rather than now. We also have good contributors in other positions.

How that is not a finals list is beyond me. How it has never finished top four is also beyond me. We haven’t had great injury luck but it’s not been terrible either.

The GF last year glossed over the issues. This coaching group, match committee and footy department have significant issues and the club is going nowhere without substantive change.

Messy in Bev’s and coaching staff head, messy out on the field.

Players don’t know how to play their positions and therefore cohesion is non existent

Showed some very good signs tonight tall defender in the Darcy Moore mould. Could be the centre piece around which to build our defence.
