Bevo’s presser. I know he’s not going to go into a heap of detail. But his answer was essentially we didn’t have enough good players on the day. And he seemed perplexed that we keep winning key indicators like inside 50s etc but lose.

Surely he understands you can win as many inside 50s and contested possession that you want, if you don’t apply any pressure on the ball carrier and no accountability for players defensively, it doesn’t matter as the opposition will score heavily from their limited entries

We are going loss the wrong player if we could not sign them all. Should have been Caleb not Dunks. Not that it matters now but I would be dropping Bruce, Caleb, McNeill, West, Garcia, VDM and Cordy

Why that man cannot take responsibility for putting the ball through the middle I just don't know.
Can never be compared to the other great kids because of his timidity around the goals
Absolute bullshit. Half a dozen poor games and this is the crap he cops. Has stood up when it matters his whole career and kicked possibly the biggest goal in our 2016 Finals run. We haven’t had a more reliable player in decades and you can’t wait to get the boot in. Pathetic stuff.

Bevo is wasting the midfield, wasting Nuaghton, and will waste JUH as well. Time's up.......and then a voice in my headsays: "Two GF's, one premiership". Dammit Bevo never been so conflicted, for anyone knows he'll pull a GF from 6th next season.
What is the counterfactual. I’d contend that with the list we have, Clarkson would have built a dynasty after 2016….

The Hawks shat the bed after their 2008 success. Missed finals the following year and took many more to make another Grand Final.

It took Clarko a while to get what some would consider the greatest team of all time to get going consistently in the years after that premiership.

I don’t agree with the doom and gloom.

What we need is:
1. Lobb, Jones and an intercept defender like Easton Wood
2. A senior assistant like Cameron and some other changes in the coaching ranks
3. A new primary game plan

And we are back in the hunt.

Collingwoods assistant coaches you mentioned are ex coaches.

Ameet Bains were is out soft cap been spent ? How is it been spent.

Easy answer. We have a highly paid senior coach so we don’t have much space regarding funds to pay for decent assistant coaches. Simon Goodwin informed the media when signing his new contract he would take less money not to jeopardise decent funds going to his assistant coaches. We don’t have that choice , as Bevos contracted was signed before the new soft gap rules where introduced

In 2017 we finished tenth. Does that mean that next year will be another 2018? Is it time to bring Billy Gowers back to the AFL and have some fun?

This list has the talent, it just needs a proper coach.

Look at how Geelong play. How Melbourne defend. How Sydney or Collingwood take the game on in the corridor.

It’s not easy, but it’s not as complicated as he thinks it is either. Have your own gameplan and/or point of difference - that’s great! But you can’t compromise basic ****ing defence while doing it! Parts of the that first half were torturous, and an example of how not to play footy at AFL level.

We all use hyperbole on here, I’m probably one of the worst offenders. But it’s not hyperbole to say that’s the worst display defensively I’ve seen in recent history from a bulldogs team.

God knows how difficult it is to be a head coach of an AFL team, and he’s delivered the ultimate to us supporters. But for everyone’s sake I hope he goes soon, or the club changes the approach to list management and coaching. Because this is ****ing embarrassing.

5 guys not looking at the ball carrier or worse still with their backs to him.

Nobody actually manning the mark.

3 guys manning grass and * all else.

Lots of space in front of Lobb and even more out the back.

So Bulldogs. So fantastic.✓✓✓✓✓✓✓✓✓✓✓✓✓

The defensive structure is poor. We don’t have the strongest defence as it is so it baffles me when you have 3 rebounding defenders down there at the same time who basically can’t defend (Dale, Daniel, Treloar). Add Richards to that list but at least he has some defensive nous.

What chance does that give our key defenders, especially the way we zone and push forward.

Suicide coaching

Maybe he just can't accept that the players are over him. He obviously can't motivate them any longer. I love Bevo. I'll always be indebted to him. But if he really cared about the club, he must have some introspection about what's going on there.

Not arguing or doubting you but jeez how much is Bev getting paid and how much has Goodwin foregone to have Alan Richardson, Mark Williams and Yze in his corner

Something is amiss here and our lack of game plan etc etc is a symptom of this we are wasting a talented group.

Agree re worst defensive displays. There was a play where Richards turned it over on our forward flank and I just dropped my head knowing it was going to result in a Freo goal.

Bevo is much more suited to a coaching director type role in my opinion. He’ll see out his contract but from what I understand there are at least some on our board who are far from impressed with his/ our performance this season

Hey, could be worse though.

The saints have their season on the line too. They’re at the cats dung heap, which as we know is tricky, but were facing a cats side without Selwood, Dangerfield and Blicavs.

Close at half time. Then 8.3 cats to 0.3 saints. Wow.

Any chance things are brought to a head earlier with a year remaining on his contract ?

Personally I would love to see Bev coach with some decent assistants around him and an experienced, strong character and high IQ in football been his senior assistant.

I would also like to see a strong Football Manager.

We need to trade or draft some proper defenders, who are tough and can defend in the air and on the ground.

Freo have the best defence going around, they have young players like Chapman and Young who win contests.

We have flaky converted ex wingers who look good with the ball but can’t defend.

Very disappointing today

Season on the line, Freo at home in front of home crowd and we didn’t throw a punch we were subdued and never looked a threat.

Sitting on the members wing today I can't remember so much frustration and white hot anger in the crowd (and not just at the umpires). It was absolute exasperation with the lack of defence, lack of intensity, the ease with which Freo were slicing through us, the keeping's off bull*** People were fed up. People walked out at half time. That was telling.
