Geez, how does that go for young, Thomson?

Those you've noted are hardly explosive, Dow provides a point of difference in a similar manner to LOB that will see him given chances to make it.Do we lack that at present???
Kennedy, Cerra and Cripps have all exited a centre bounce at pace this year. It's part of why we're flying; we're not just getting clearances but good clearances.
I like Dow. I want Dow to succeed and I think he will get his shot at some point this year, given that it's round 3 and people are mentally trading him already. But I don't think we need to manufacture something that is only there if you squint and cross your eyes to try to shoehorn him in.
We've pace around the edges of a stoppage - Doc, Williams, LOB, Saad, Fisher, Durdin - where we need it, and the three main midfielders are exiting a stoppage plenty quickly at present.

Goodness gracious me - how can Carlton win a game without Dow's legendary 'explosive' running power!!! Give it a rest. Anyone can run through a gap into a 6/6/6 field from center bounce- even Kennedy has demonstrated that sort of 'explosive' running power and kicked a goal...

I think honestly, he is actually gunning for Cerra's spot in the side. If he improves on his goal kicking ability and can develop some high half forward flanker skills, I can see him coming into the side for Fisher and rotating into Cerra's position in the middle when Cerra has a rest.If things stay the same he is gunning for Kennedy’s spot as the mid with lowest TOG. Can’t see him overtaking Bam Bam.
His running capacity and production over four quarters is an issue, as is the lack of a true second position.
Sadly I think he’ll be a good mid elsewhere.
The other thing about him is that his right foot can be every bit as lethal as LOB's left. And I've always said that getting the ball into Dow's hands in the middle for him to distribute, and we're away. That's why scouting isn't easy. You have to extrapolate from what they have shown...
Speed is a weapon. If Dow can get the ball 25-30 times a game he's shown his hands are as good/better. His clearance work is on par if not better and his burst is better. He just needs consistency and defensive effort. I can live without the aerial presence. Although I've seen Dow take some really good overhead marks.
Spot onNote. Our improvement has come from a few areas but one of them is tackling in transition. It’s no surprise getting rid of Murphy, Gibbons and moving Dow to the 2s see us much more competitive. Those guys just never touched the opposition.
Spot on
"I'm your Paddy now"Well he'll make it, but he doesn't have to be so stubborn about it. Just show up at training and say 'my name's Patrick'
Strongly disagree. Dow fixed up his disposal a bit towards the back end of last year but he isn't technically sound or as fluid as LOB at kicking. He's very upright when he kicks and stiff. He's not as poor as he was but I definitely wouldn't classify it near lethal. The other thing about him is that his right foot can be every bit as lethal as LOB's left. And I've always said that getting the ball into Dow's hands in the middle for him to distribute, and we're away.
Not sure, it's a fair question. I really don't know.Geez, how does that go for young, Thomson?
You have a point. Until this season most would have said the same about Setterfield.I still don't know what it is about Dow that dictates that he can't play wing. At any rate, I'm quite looking forward to the fact that we might have at least some trade currency beyond the trading of our draft picks, if it turns out like that.
Dow has very fast handsDow has rare agility around the contest. I couldn’t imagine a worse comparison than Kennedy. Kennedy has been terrific but explosive, maybe not.
