Traded Paddy Dow [Traded to St Kilda in 4-Team Trade]

I think it was reported he is in Japan and returning for Blues B&F. I assume he will have to do a medical and notional facility tour before he nominates anywhere.
He doesn't need to do a medical. Swans may ask one to assess the risk of the trade but realistically he has had little injury history, will not cost the Swans a lot on trade value and unlikely will not have a large contract in front of him.

I imagine he would do a medical at some stage but he can easily nominate the Swans, then do a medical while the trade is negotiated.

Sydney pick before St Kilda anyway in the PSD so it makes no sense for you. If Dow doesn't care about where he goes and just wants more playing opportunity then this is going to backfire on SOS.
Yeah but as we've seen you can nominate a salary quite easily that scares any club off.

Seen you guys do exactly that with Martin.

I highly doubt it ever comes to that but it's more than likely just tough talk to make it clear we won't be giving up apick we plan on using for a guy that's been stuck in the VFL and only gets a go when their are injuries.

A 4th round pick seems the most likely.

Doubt very much a 4th round pick gets it done , the guy can play , with the right backing of coaching staff showing confidence in his playing abilities, he will shine , crazy Vossy didn’t believe in him.

How can you expect anything better than a 4th if your coach doesn't believe in him?

What do you expect to be his value?

No , his current coach doesn’t believe in him , with a non allegiance to either club , my impartial view is 3rd rounder at the minimum , he will flourish in the right environment, no superstar , granted , I see 150 senior games of solid performances .

He believed in him, he just correctly identified that he was behind a number of others in the midfield pecking order.

Why are the Saints so desperate for Dow anyway?

Here's their likely inside mid depth for next season:
  • Jack Steele
  • Brad Crouch
  • Seb Ross
  • Dylan Shiel (assuming the rumours are correct)
  • Then you've got a bunch of others that rotate through there (Owens, Windhager et al.)

Is Dow going to the Saints to be a depth player or do they think he is ahead of Ross/Shiel in the pecking order?

If it's the latter, I'm sure you'd agree that he is worth more than a 4th round pick. Stop being ridiculous with your posturing and smell the coffee ffs.

Half those guys are 31+. Not part of the plan moving forward. Ross has said he is happy to go backwards if that means we move forward long term. He fits the age bracket

Classic SOS up to his old tricks lol.

Other clubs enter trade negotiations in good faith with a view to building good trade relationships.

SOS like Dodo goes in like a bulldozer

Please nominate the Swans Paddy

This isn't true. When did SOS try to screw another club? He's nothing like Dodo.
I'm not criticizing him per say I'm just saying he's a bit full on. We held onto Gibbs when most clubs would have gotten the deal done. We took Martin to the PSD which virtually never happens. He did what he thought was best for the club in both instances and he may have been right but you can't deny he rules with an iron fist

Those 2 deals fell through when Adelaide and Gold Coast acted in bad faith.
Most clubs wouldn't have let Gibbs go in those circumstances for what Adelaide offered. Gibbs was traded the next year for the asking price.
And Suns were offered a high 2nd and a 3rd for Martin, but decided not to deal because they had just been handed a stack of extra concessions by the AFL.

SOS has historically tried to get deals done that can benefit all parties.

Righto mate 👏

Telling Carlton we are not trading for Dow we are just going to take him as a DFA is a classic SOS dick move that has history.

Is there any indication of anything going on beyond trade radio speculation? Anything from the clubs?

Wouldn't have thought a fringe player with a bit of interest for being cheap would be the cause of so much drama.
One minute he's touring Sydney, next minute he's actually overseas, and now apparently we're all desperately refusing to compromise. When does trade period start again?
