are you serious???

if it is true, he is GAWN!

As Ive stated before, i am mates with a committee member, to his credit he gives me absolutely nothing - no leaks at all.

All i know is that a meeting has been arranged for tomorrow.

This doesnt enure anything, but obviously todays game would be its agenda item.

6 games to go now....... not sure if a change would be for the best, worst thing we can do from here-in is win a solitary game.

Pick 1 & 3 would sure be nice.

Either that or pick 4 & finish off with 7-8 wins....... but that is an absolute pipe dream.

It seems clear that he is not getting the best out of the players.

Sack him now please !

He is getting nothing out of the players...

At this point, they are just going through the motions.

A new coach will not solve everything instantly but it will give the players a spark.

And hopefully it is a caretaker coach, Ratten, to see us through to the seasons end.
I do not think Ratten is good enough to coach us in '08 (after all, he is part of the present set up) but maybe he will be told to play the kids.
Be much better getting game time into them than wasting time on Bannister et al.
Would like to see what kids like Benjamin, etc can offer us.

Oh please. I have a lot of respect for your posts, however this statement baffles me.

Play the kids, so why? we can get thumped again like we did today? Play the kids - they're getting played and they're getting smashed.

Benjamin is NO WHERE near ready. There are so many who are ready before him, and knocking on the door before.

There is absolutely no point whatsoever to bringing these kids in, blooding them, and humiliating them, and then having all the supporters ripping into them well before they are ready for that stage.

No point at all.

Sadly, Denis has coached his last game. He's been made pay by weak efforts from a whole host of players. Our whole club should be ashamed.
Agreed.
Nothing would piss me off more than if Pagan was sacked and all of a sudden the players picked up their efforts.
Weak as water.
For those who say he has lost the players.
Are the players now choosing who should coach them?
What if they get Voss and lose the first 6 games. Can they then decide they don't like him either.
Its the players responsibility to prepare themselves each weak and get the best out of themselves, and a number of players, whose careers are on the line are gone. Maybe not next year, but I think a little mark will be placed on there file to say, replace when able.

Pathetic performance all round.

If Pagan is indeed removed will Brett Ratten want to take on the caretaker's role? It could have dire consequences for his future coaching aspirations if he loses the remaining six games.
All I want to see is all the young kids on the list played for the remainder of the season no matter who takes over. Especially:

Kennedy
Bower
Edwards
Blackwell
Grigg
Hartlett
Benjamin
Hampson

If Ratten turns down the job then give it to Crosisca, Braddles or Libba.

Actually... When I talk about the coach having lost the players, it means that they dont have confidence in his abilities to coach them and to get the best out of them

Playing with a single game plan week in and week out is not a good idea... and thats why we have gone 15 games straight with our opposition scoring over 100 points against us.

All out attack is a good plan if you have a defence which will actually restrict the opposition to scores similar to our final score today.

If you are getting thumped, you should have the confidence in the coach that if something is going wrong, he will change things around a little and balance out the side to restrict the opposition and open up our game play a little to allow us to start scoring.

The players have no confidence in themselves and in the coach to try and turn things around. And thats what gets coaches sacked.

If the club gets Voss as our new head coach (and god I hope that we dont... we need a good experienced coach right now) and we lose the first 6 games, I will be looking at the margins and the final scores. If we are losing by points and restricting the opposition to under 100 points, then the new coach is doing a good job and is using the players to the best of their current ability.

If we are still losing to scores of over 100 points then there is still something wrong.

Pagan cant change things at the club anymore and is therefore ineffective as a head coach and should be removed as a damage control measure to prevent the damage to the talented youngsters we have on our lists.

What about starting a pro-Pagan thread? I'd like to see that!!!

We all know that DP has not been our only problem, nor was Smorgon or Lance..the problems have been myriad, but we have already turned the list over once and are currently doing so again, so what else can we do?

The coach has to go. I can't see what else can be tried. Unlike most clubs we have already blamed the players. Now we need to go the more obvious route. Yep a few more players are on the way out, but I think a number were gone anyway.

Has DP had a fair go... probably not. Has DP contributed to his own demise...probably. Some coachs would have looked at their new list and then tried to find a gameplan to suit it...Pagan didn't. Which was fair enough as his North gameplan had proved a winner, but we did not have the players capable of implementing it and with our draft penalties we were unlikely to bring in the players who could.

Unfortunately despite DP's impeccable previous record he was a bad fit for us at the time. Someone who was a little more flexible would probably have been better. I bet DP regrets making the move:D

Just my opinion and as we all know hindsight is a great thing:eek:

Where are the moderators? To create a headline like that and commence with "I am not 100%" is a disgrace. I've been done for a lot less, I can tell you. If the moderators are fair dinkum this thread should be pulled down.

As a Carlton supporter and member, I am appalled. Keep Denis until R22, conduct a review and make recommendations from that point going forward.

Sorry...

Doesnt cut it really... If we keep DP until the end of the season, we could in theory end up with a 4th spoon...

And that is not going to happen.

At the board meeting tomorrow, I envisige 1 of 2 possibilities happening...

1. Dennis, for the good of the club, falls on his sword.
2. For the good of the club, Dick Pratt puts his hand in his pocket and pulls out a check and sacks Pagan.

Dick gave Dennis a target of wins... while being a little optimistic in their number, it should have been achievable and unfortunately with 6 rounds left, it doesnt look like we will win more than 1 more match...

Yes, we have lost some key players to injuries and a few of our senior players are not playing to their full potential.

Dennis has allowed things at the club to deteriorate to such a level that we might lose several of our talented youngsters because they are sick of losing all the time.

So what that we won the preseason premiership... The team we beat in the final, caned us for over 100 points... is that progress under a talented coach?

The club needs focus and direction which we are currently not getting from the current coach and something needs to be done.

By the way it is Denis. One 'n' not two. Pay attention. Richard Pratt is a man of his word and he said he will review it at seasons end. Denis Pagan is a fighter and will not jump...even though Daniher and Connolly have made it 'fashionable' these days, Denis will always have a better coaching record than both of them combined.

The best thing for Carlton, in the long-term, is to continue to lose every game...snare 2 picks inside the top 5 at this year's draft in what is considered a 'shallow pool' to pick from. Therefore, gaining a comp. adv. on all of our rivals.

What are you???

1 'n' or 2 doesnt really matter... "Denis" is a loser who is destroying the club at the moment... Yes, Dick Pratt is a man of his word... and if "Denis" had managed to win 6 matches by now, I am sure that Dick would review the situation at the end of the year.

But as things stand, there is only a realistic chance of winning 2 more games in what remains of the season. Therefore Dick knows that his goals for the year are not going to be met, he has the right to change his mind and do whats right for the club. If the right thing for the club is to sack "Denis", then I am sure that he will... and he will even put his hand into his own pocket to pay "Denis" out...

Continue to lose every game??? So we lose every game until the end of the year and just for 2 picks in the top 5

What sort of psychological effect is that going to have on a team that is already suffering from low esteem and a lack of confidence that the club is serious about going forward.

We need to win 1 maybe 2 more games just to build the confidence back up again and thats not going to happen with Pagan because he doesnt care because he knows he is going to get the sack at the end of the year... so cut our losses now, get in a caretaker coach and say goodbye to "Denis" now

Denis is not a loser. Have you ever had the 'pluck' to tell him personally?
As I said in the 'bigger picture' it is in fact better for the club to continue to lose each and every week from now until seasons end.

You obviously don't understand how difficult it is to recruit a 200 game ruckman (Kruezer 199cm) to a football club.

Richard is hard but fair. He will judge Denis (I am glad you have got it right after 5 years) at the end of the H&A. Decisions will be made, soonafter.

You have clearly demonstrated a lack of understanding in regards to football and psychology in your previous post.

Sit back, be patient and wait. Good times will follow. Just be prepared. You will see.

You are obviously the one who has no idea about football.

He should judge Dennis now as the season may as well be over for us. He has compleately tarnished this great clubs name and you think he should keep his job for the rest of the season?

I dont think Pagan should be sacked until the end of the season

not much can be gained by doing it now and I think that starting the new season with a fresh slate, new coach, new methods etc, rather than trying to change mid season, is a better option

rarely in the real world does a new boss start on thursday, its always a monday

So you don't think our 2008 doesn't start now?

Why waste the first month or so after the season sacking the coach and looking for a new one and preparing for next season when we can get the jump now. Didn't hurt the kangas last year preparing this early.
