It’s a sin against cricket that Markram doesn’t.
People reckon Gill is an underachiever: has nothing on Markram IMO. Gill shows talent in terms of the beauty of the shots he plays etc.
Markram has played half a dozen sublime innings of the sort of quality that suggest he could be as good as Amla or ABDV if he fulfilled his talent. It will never happen though.
I'd just started following cricket then. England were at rock bottom and Fletcher had just taken charge. Some respectability was seen as essential. From memory, they were 4 down for 2 on day 1 of the series. Chris Adams, Gavin Hamilton and Darren Maddy all featured. Seem to remember watching in awe as a youngster seeing Gary Kirsten getting to 275.

Bit of a like for like with Mulder I think
It's interesting looking at the breakdown of his stats. He's played 28 tests in RSA and averages 43. He's only played 2 tests in every other nation barring the Caribbean.
50 up in the first hour.
That should have been taken.
