Pakistan vs Australia - 1st test

Australia have collapsed to 7/89, with Shaoib Akhtar destroying the middle order with a 5 wicket haul.

Haven't had the chance to watch any of the play since lunch, but am not surprised with Akhtar getting rewarded like this. He bowled extremely well in his spell before lunch, both fast and accurate.... something Brett Lee hasn't done much of in recent times.

But with Australia getting towards a 300-run lead, Warne should still lead his side to victory (and a 10-wicket haul).

It seems the first session of the match will be the costly one for Pakistan, letting Australia score at above 5 runs an over just for the loss of one wicket.

What's happening?

According to the Cricinfo site, they've been at Tea for about an hour and a half now!
Bad light stopped play. Doesn't look like they'll be coming back on tonight.

those paki openers were sh*tting bricks. they walked all the way out to the middle, took the light immediately then went back off. no way they were gonna face up to a fired up aussie side that had just been rolled :p :p

Warnie's got a wicket - AT LAST!!!!!!!!

Pakistan 1 for 91 (225 more runs req)

form cricinfo

23.2 Warne to Imran Nazir, OUT: he lost concentration, skies a drive, bat twisted in the air to McGrath at long off

Pakistan at tea are 3 for 179, needing a further 137 to win the test match. Shane Warne has bowled really well taking 2 wickets and Brett Lee has the other wicket. The next 10 or 15 overs are vital in my opinion... we get a couple of wickets quickly and the pressure will be right on the Pakistani batsman.

Cheers!!

Rain has stopped play at tea time with Pakistan 3 for 179, needing a further 137 to win the match. If there's no more play tonight, the game is set up for a thrilling finish on the last day.

I don't know why they even bother to schedule a session after tea in Sri Lanka - has there ever been a day where it didn't rain?

On the first two days the rain and bad light came about the time that play was supposed to finish. The only problem being that the over rates of both sides have been so tardy that there were about a dozen overs to bowl when there shouldn't have been any.

And of course, this match was only scheduled for Sri Lanka at short notice.

What, so they didn't have time to organise the weather? :D

I just remember the last time we were in Sri Lanka two of the Tests were washed out.

WARNEY!!!!!!!!!

What a beautiful piece of bowling by Shane Warne... the flipper and Younis Khan is plum LBW trying to pull, the ball was on him too quick and it would have knocked out all 3 stumps!! :D:D

Pakistan: 5 for 230

Cheers!!

McGrath gets the new ball.

Game, set, match. I hope :D.

Gillespie, 1st ball with the new ball, caught behind.

Into the tail, only recognised batsmen left a 20 y/o inexperienced player

c'mon aussie!!!!!
