Batting time is a lost art - if all you ever do as a kid is play short form cricket…how do you transition to longer form?

We have a guy playing for AUSTRALIA .... yes, AUSTRALIA, who is not good enough to play Sheffield Shield. He's been making ducks in SACA Grade cricket and 2nd XI. No prizes for guessing who. I've said it before, won't say it again. JFM does not watch the ball. As he's playing the shot, he's looking where he thinks the ball should be going rather than watching it right onto the bat. Until he rectifies this, he's just another waste of talent. Rant over.

For all the doomposting today about the crowd size, its apparently 25k. Would not be out of place for an early November weekday ODI 15 or even 25 years ago. Literally the only difference is now it's mostly opposition supporters. Play this in January and there would be 40k plus.

I’ll say this for the last time…Talent is the most overrated thing in cricket.

There was a bloke around 2016-17 on the Roar who did an analysis of Maxwell's shield stats and actively demonstrated the opposite; Maxwell made more runs when his team was in trouble, in defiance of his IPL reputation.

He got that 201* when we were more than up shit creek.

Is why I have come to hate cricket so much. Happens in tests with us too and has for years. Far more often than not batsmen get themselves out with needless rubbish shots more than the bowler earning it.
