Molloy came out like a freight train when we recruited him in 2002. But then he got injured and was stuffed. I reckon we would have won that flag in 2002 if he was fit.
We traded him in for Michael in 2001. Had a great season that year but he dropped off in 2002 and had a pretty quiet GF albeit was underdone as had been injured.

was 2nd in the Copeland in 01, retired at the end of 03 at 27 due to his ankles :(

Spot on. It was raining all morning so a big heavy slow forward was never going to be the answer on that day.
But he was a hustler and butler. Not really your clean marking dry weather specialist. He was a wet weather type of KPF. But I could have sworn he didn't play, so there you go.

Of decisions to cut players Jye Bolton is the obvious choice. He remains the premier midfielder both in the WAFL and outside the AFL. Inside or outside, he's a walk-up best-22 player for pretty much any team from my perspective.
So is it something Off-Field stopped him playing AFL?

Club had big wraps for him but got king hit with a cowards punch by Robert Muir - broke his jaw in a pre season game. Never got over the impact to be honest. St Kilda have a history of that stuff.

Riz was super talented and Robbie Muir did "fix him up"...
