danger may be demon bound. Just offered him 1.6m per season

Yeah, your club and two other Victorain clubs are waiting for the Geelong/Adelaide trade to fail to jump in with big money and draft picks/players... I can see this trade holding everything up on the trade period.

Why even answer that post, PD has said Geelong and Adelaide are discusssing a trade, Geelong and Adelaide have confirmed that this is the case. All we should be worried about is which club will bend over the most or will by some miracle its fair and equal. Which will be hard as Geelong posters think they should be getting him for free.

Because I'm interested.

Geelong seem to think they're entitled to Dangerfield, Henderson and Selwood all at the expense of pick 30.

It looks as though Danger is going to cost them a minimum of two picks with maybe a player. Hendo looks destined to be a pick and player, not sure on Selwoood could end up staying if not probably will go RFA he cant get a gig with WestCoast so would suggest he will leave. He is looking for opportumity just to get a game. Geelongs 22 is nowhere near the eagles 22.

I think Adelaide will trade in a couple of players with some of those picks we receive where cCrlton look destined to want picks or young players to build a team

Its pick 30 and a young KPP (Walker) and a ton of cap space.

But I agree with Marty it will most likely be a trade for Danger, but I don't think anyone will know what that will be... Beams is a comparable recent trade, AA mid, OCC naming his club for personal reasons.

I think beams went for pick 5 and 25 and Cripps.. (Could be in that ball park.)

Geelong are not in the habit of trading out player that don't want to leave, so it will be upto AFC to convince a player to go I feel.

Edit: Actually Beams was contracted

I find it hard to believe because there is no way he knocks back an extra 600k-700k a year just to live 90 minutes down the road.

Either Melbourne offered that and he's a Demon, or it's bullshit and everyone is waiting on the Geelong-Adelaide trade to happen.

As another poster said, this trade will hold a LOT up in trade week. Cats fans are way too confident about this. It doesn't matter what he's said: once trade period starts, all bets are off. If Adelaide gets an offer from a Victorian club that it can't refuse that the Cats can't match, Danger will fold. I'm sure he'd rather get back to Victoria in a way that benefits the Crows.

I just have to say this because some Cats fans seem to act like they're entitled to him for some reason. He *wants* to go to Geelong. But you're not a single-state team. If you think he's knocking back a better offer just to live 90 minutes out of Melbourne, you're a numpty.

If Danger was just after money, then he wouldn't be coming to Geelong at all because many other clubs would offer him much larger sums than Geelong would. So, given the fact he's determined to play for Geelong, then one must suspect there's other reasons (apart from money) for him choosing Geelong over clubs like Melbourne who can offer huge amounts of money to him. If you happen to get him, based on this offer, then good luck to you.

Sorry mate, there's no way he's knocking back an extra 600k-700k just to live 90 minutes down the road. It makes no sense. To live in a different state, sure. But down the highway? But stop acting like as if Geelong is 8 hours away.

If he wants to "go home", he's still home playing for another Victorian club.

I'm not acting like anything. o_O

Paddy wants to come to Geelong. It's Paddy you have to convince, not me. I have no doubt there's a million ways the deal between Geelong & Adelaide could go wrong, and Paddy might end up somewhere else. That's trading. Personally, I never believe anything until the signatures on the paper. So, like I said, if the Dee's or anyone else can convince Paddy to play for them, then good luck to them. All's fair in love and war.

Maybe Dangerfield just wants to play for Geelong, even though he might get bucket loads elsewhere. It's not the first time a player has knocked back more money to play for a team he wants to play at. That's the price players accept to play for a good team. And the Cats are much more likely to taste success than the Dees. Being a Mogg's Creek boy he probably grew up barracking for the Cats, could be a childhood dream to play for them.

At day's end, only Danger knows the answer, but you can't discount the possibility that he's willing to take a lot less money to play at the Cats. He'll be nicely set up with $800,000 a year over 5 years anyway.

You have a valid arguement but, he has made up his mind he has declared where he is going and even the fact he wants Adelaide to be fairly compensated by Geelong. The only way that will change if talks breakdown, so there is a chance I suppose.

Not sure if serious? When and from who?

He declared it on Saturday at the B and F count, said he wanted to go to Geelong and that he expected Adelaide would be compensated fairly through a trade. It was a clear cut statement no reason to think he was lying. I dont believe Buddy ever made a statement like that and Ablett definetly didnt.

Fair, But I was referring to an offer of 1.6 made today (Rumor of course) He would have to consider it surely.

Here is the quote
Patrick Dangerfield said:
"I think both the Geelong Football Club and the Adelaide Football Club can come to some sort of arrangement. I'm not sure what that is but I'm sure it will be fair and equitable for all."
