Surprised? Have you not been watching events in the US or the Brexit vote? The immigration debate has been driven underground by smarmy left wing social engineers who cant even talk about immigration (particularly muslim) without resorting to childish name calling. Plus, I can see the beachhead One Nation has established this election growing at the next election. Pauline is a cut through politician could easily become a lightning rod .

Are you aboriginal, if not some where along the line the aboriginals allowed you and your family in. IMO it was a poor choice.

Please understand that problems arising from multiculturalism do not always involve Anglo-Australians. One Nation has received support not just from white peoples.
Immigrants always hate the next mob cause they feel they had it harder, were more deserving etc.

Doubt the majority of the populous agree with the following nonsense

13557871_10154273712931873_1552441003117650340_n.jpg

1. It's both; and they can be separated. There, saved a ton of time and money.

2. How can this be implemented practically? Do we ask and believe?

3. Nanny state. It's my right to wear whatever the **** I want. There's no reason to implement this other than personal taste.

4. I agree.

5. Holy shit that's frightening. Any country that installs surveillance equipment in private properties is not a country worth living in.

6. why? And what do you consider to be a mosque? This will be so easy to work around its laughable.

7. I agree; but then again so does everyone with a seat in parliament. This isn't exactly a hot topic.

8. Why stipulate Muslims? You could just do this for everyone. Then I'd agree.

9. Holy shit talk about government encroachment. Is this even leagally possible to do anyway?

10. The most frightening thing of all. They want to repeal the bit of the constitution that prevents goverent imposing religion, and allow the government to ban religion. A genuine thoughtcrime initiative.

11. Why only Muslims? I'm happy to dump religion in general, but banning Muslims from swearing on the Quran just means that Muslims can do evil shit in government with a free conscious. This doesn't even make sense with my bigoted glasses on.

These leople do not believe in freedom. They dont believe in Australian values. This is the definition of fascist.

If she had the same support as Brexit. She would be PM
Nigel Farage isn't Prime Minister either. But him and a bunch of conservative misfits won 10 days ago against the might of the political and business establishment in the United Kingdom, and the advocacy of almost every international business and political leader.

Ignore these people at your peril. They are not going away.

Re: 4, I'm 99% certain you can't actually get a drivers licence photo with your face covered. She's invented something to argue against.

There goes everyone in the Labor party!
Please send me a PM when you ever decide to genuinely contribute to any thread so I can be prepared as the shock may be too much for my heart.

Hanson's platform goes for the low hanging fruit, it's light on facts, heavy on emotion particularly hate, she plays to our worst aspects.
I don't love that she's back but potentially she's got more representation than Xenophon in the Senate, you can't dismiss that with derp, you're all stupid. That just plays it on her terms.

Brexit received 51.89% of the vote
If One Nation had that on Saturday, this board would have exploded never to be salvaged

I'm not surprised by her popularity, just as I'm not surprised by the Trump phenomenon. It's a backlash against over the top PC culture. Those who are most vocally against Trump/Hanson don't realise that they are actually helping their nemesis.

Im not surprised with all the votes she got because people are sick of certain types of people and their religion and based on whats happening around the world and whats happened here you can see why people have voted for her.

I find it strange that when you ask someone who they voted for its almost received as being rude. I'm one to tell people and have a small general discussion on why this and that. After years of asking my dad and never getting an answer. This time around he told me. He goes postal. He voted for that shooters and gaming party or whatever they are called, followed by Pauline Hanson. I think he's of that generation where most people and their parents were slightly racist. And one of those people that won't bend to modern society and its views. I was probably better of not asking him in the end because I totally disagree with him.

He has gone 'postal'

She's got a couple of points on some of the economic ones like the 457s and the selling of land to foreigners.

Over in let's say Malaysia or China foreigners can only lease land and not buy it. Should be that you have to at least be a PR to buy more than one property in Australia.

And who the **** thought selling the port of Darwin to China was okay?

I'm ethnic Chinese and not racist against my own race but it's quite sad that it takes someone who is otherwise a complete ****wit* like Hanson to point these things out.

*Though to her credit at least she does try and do things by the electoral system. No thuggery or extreme crime there. If more extremists did the same thing we'd all be much better off.

No she doesn't. NXT has a guaranteed two with a likely third, she has one with an unlikely second. Neither have any seats outside of their home states.

Mostly racism but a big chunk of her support would be people disaffected by decline of manufacturing and other jerbs that went away and aren't coming back.

Most of her support comes from Queensland which is sadly derp.

I understand people reacting to economic dislocation and decline with opposition to immigration, but Queensland was never a manufacturing state. They have always gone the Hanson types (Joh, Hanson, Palmer, Katter)

Pretty much.

The whole PC goal seems to be to stop people talking about things they don't like....Trouble is, it doesn't work. People might be more careful about what they say to who, but the thoughts don't change just because a bunch of people whine every time they're mentioned publicly.

As I've said a great many times, the way to change ideas is to allow for MORE free speech, bring ideas out into the open and combat the bad ideas with better ones, not brushing uncomfortable notions under the carpet with the self serving belief that the PC idea is so absolutely self evident that no discussion can or should be allowed and dismissing those who have other ideas as stupid bogans (although the irony of how readily the PC crowd leap to vilify others always amuses).

It's like the shock at the idea of an inquiry into climate change...If the theory is so absolutely clear and the science so settled, then surely such a high profile opportunity to demonstrate it and convince people should be welcomed!

As for the stuff about Islam, I think things like bans and surveillance are way over the top and object to them on civil rights grounds, but I don't see a major problem with questioning policies, like immigration, that have the potential to make major changes to the way of life in the country. Indeed, I'd like to think that Government should do that occasionally with all significant policy directions.

Care to expand?
People are very influenced by the media and especially mainstream media who constantly report on certain terror acts and other various things in regards to muslims and what they do which is all negative. People feel threatened by them so they see someone like hanson preaching to stop and ban them and they jump on. Can you blame them though? When reports of terror and ISIS is constantly being brought up what sort of picture do you think gets painted in peoples heads they think oh no its the end of the world they're taking over
