Not sure Pav's gonna care so much. Sure it's a nice tick and I guess a real thrill for those who get selected for the first time. But Pav's been there and done that (is it 6 times?) and I think it safe to assume as he nears the end of his career what he's mostly interested is being part of a premiership team, not some mickey mouse all australian team.

I too reckon Pav was stiff, but no point in grousing about it. Congratulations to those who were selected. They're all good players.

Well said, I bet Pav thinks all this outrage is pretty funny.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the selection committees thinking is that they pick the best 'team' rather than the best individual players.

If that's the case then why wouldn't they wait until after the season has finished and just name every player in the premiership side??

Robbo and Whately were pretty scathing of Pav's omission on AFL 360 last night. They brought up a graphic of a poll where they said almost 1 mill had voted and Pav led the way with 36% of the vote for unluckiest to miss out. Also loved the cut to Robbo's grilling of Healy's rationale for putting NN in the team over Jacobs. What an absolute joke that team was.

Yeah Healy (and selectors) are up a river without a paddle, their justification for NN's inclusion is in direct contrast to their reasoning for Pav's non-inclusion. A complete joke and it doesn't matter what the selectors say at this point, they've now reduced the AA selection into an afterthought in the public's eye.

The AA selectors are pretty much a group of enthusiastic amateurs as far as their credentials for selecting a team goes. A random group of Bigfooty contributors would have as much credibility. I would have picked NicNat though.

Nick Maxwell is a premiership player........would you have him in your side?

Nope. (sorry, I should've put a sarcastic smiley after my last comment)

Pick the best individual player for each individual position.
Don't give a player AA status for the forward pocket position when his normal position is elsewhere.
Don't allow the AA ruck position to be taken by someone who at the moment is sporadically flashy, shows potential and is the non-preferred ruckman in his team. o_O

I totally agree mate

Probably been mentioned, but you get the impression that Pavlich was overlooked because he has made the team plenty of times before and they wanted to give it to a local lad.

Jacko probably used up all his credits trying to get the West Coast boys into the team, none of whom I have a major issue with though Naitanui should be on the bench and Cox the starting Ruck. Glass shouldn't be captain either, terrible choice.

I honoestly think they watched the highlights for the year and used this as their final criteria.

i.e.
Nic Nat speccy? Check.
Hawkins 50m goal to beat the Hawks? Check.

Surely the side with the two best ruckmen in the league would have done better than 7th in overall clearances and 11th in clearance differentials. Considering the criticism towards Sandilands as being he wins ruck knocks without the resultant clearance wins for Freo, the fact that two of the best ruckmen in league fail to yield top four stats in this regard is a knock against them.

Meanwhile, Adelaide are number one in both clearance stats and clearance differential stats. Jacobs was robbed. Guess he doesn't have the same bullshit press as the West Coast blokes.

But really, the biggest bullshit is that Cyril Rioli got a gig. Marginally better year than Chris Mayne. And that margin is slim.

That All Australian team would get flogged by previous teams. Naming two ruckmen from the same team who each played 50% ruck is so wrong. I agree, you would think that having two All Australian ruckmen in your team would mean you would hardly ever lose a hitout/clearance. Especially considering their massive umpiring advantage.

Praise from you is like being stroked by a dead trans undergoing rigor mortis.

I'd say that's an indictment on our midfield more than anything. Adelaide had two midfielders make the AA team, we couldn't even get one in the squad.

You rub people up the wrong way*.

Think about that, son.

*no homo

You ever heard the saying "Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds"? AE

Pot/kettle (like you don't rub people up the wrong way).

I am counting you, Muffin and a few morons on the Bay.

I'll take that.

You just need to grow up a little and stop lecturing.

It's only your opinion
