Stand by my comment a minute or two ago.

Started moving the ball properly again and we score two goals in no time. Should play properly not try to ice the game with a quarter left.

It often goes the other way around to what you suggested though. Often (and what I think happened here), teams get put to the sword and that causes them to shrink into their shells. Sometimes it happens the way you said it, but more often than not the shrinking into shells is the response, not the first action.

Those 2 things get confused far too often because they have virtually the same consequence (apart from who blame is apportioned to).
