I’d want to look outside of club links, get someone who’s been part of a successful system.

I know that’s tough given our location, we just need to sell it.

Knowing your going to be coaching Pearce, Cox, Ryan, Clark, Walker, Wagner Draper and Chapman would be pretty appealing for a backline coach.

If Simpson came in it would give Justin some top quality support so he may be able to take the overseeing of the backline back again. It was pretty good under him, iirc

I agree on the calls for Simpson. Don't see how we would be able to find anyone with better credentials. Not sure he'd be interested though. He's still getting his 1 million for 2025 paid out by WC. Might want a year off and/or to head back to Victoria.

Nah apparently keen to stay in Perth .
The fact that he’s still getting paid by WC could throw a curve ball tho,
I’d imagine him getting paid by WC would be dependent on not taking another coaching position somewhere else or it would dilute what he receives from them

An opportunity like this for freo just never comes around , in fact can see it never happening again ,outside of west Aussies.

We just have to get it done.

Personally id give him director of coaching /senior assistant gig and still look to bring someone else in for Boyd’s position

Not sure how the timing works but Simpson would only be paid out for 6 months per coaching rules. That should mean he's open to it

Pyke confirmed that Simpson’s contract would be honoured, which means the club will pay the outgoing coach close to $1 million for his 2025 contract. The Eagles can split that payment over multiple seasons, as Hawthorn did with Alastair Clarkson after paying him out of his 2022 deal, to ease potential issues for exceeding the soft cap on football spending.

Then there'd be some agreement about how it impacts his other earnings I'm sure. He's not going to pass up jobs because WC want to pay him 200k a year for 5 years

All well and good to take him but he may want top job again

This may not suit Freo

I think he'll find it hard to get a top job without at least being an assistant again somewhere for a bit. Seems like a perfect fit to me.

I do not want Simpson. He was cooked since Covid at WC, not sure he can just flick the switch now.

The WA media will go us relentlessly if we have him. Any pressure on Jlo will reference Simmo ready to take over.

Remember how bad Suma was, Simmo will be worse as he has hated us for longer. You don’t invite white ants into your house.

It also helps WC out with some of their cap and if we succeed with him, WC fans will say it’s all him. Stuff that.

Odd and quite immature mindset mate

Simpson would be an obvious fit. He wants to stay in Perth.he could move in as a midfield coach
Who do you think actually won the premiership for them and also coached the midfield?

Part of some of the worst recruiting, player contracts and management and coaching since?

Are we the WCE retirement pension fund provider and permanent non achiever club?

Any chance we'll be able to get non-Fremantle people from outside the club? Or we going to give Boyds' job to Mzungu and then put Corbett in his place? Mundy and Barlow suggested already, come on guys do we want to be a serious club or just romantacize our whole existence.

If a Freo person is the best person for the job I’d be happy to offer them the job.

Barlow especially hasn’t been at the club in eight years and has plenty of coaching experience elsewhere.

They’ve got to want to come to WA which basically leaves Freo and West Coast players and WA expats that want to return home. It’s hard to get anyone else when there’s so many other clubs elsewhere in the country.

Reckon its over rated personally.
Longmuir is well regarded coz of those credentials. Many here not convinced he's a senior coach.
Mundy would be an elite coach, coz everything he does is Elite
No offence but how you feel about the coaching credentialing course is irrelevant. The fact is if someone hasn't done the course they can't be employed in the AFL as a coach. So I asked the question because people often bring up Mundy's name as a potential coach but if he hasn't done the course he can't be. So it's a waste of time putting his name forward.

Keen to pick up Schofield when the new coach gets appointed. Usually head coach brings in senior assistant coach, expect Schofield to potentially be open to a move. I’d be very keen to have him, I thought I heard we were trying to bring him over originally.
