Perth Stadium (Optus Stadium)

I don't need a view of the hills in the distance, or the Perth skyline to enjoy watching the footy or the cricket.
No, the city itself is that. Hence they get a boring stadium which will be talked up as world class, but given what I have seen so far, won't be.

Leg room and 50 cm wide seats with a cupholder v wooden bench with arse-cushions

I know which one I'll take.
Because th e population is too fat now to have normal seats. Could have saved money and built it smaller and fitted the same seats if everyone wasn't so fat. I guess now they have to have a pie stall per row.

In the old days they all died young from skin cancer before they had a chance to grow old and fat. Probably caused by sitting outdoors in the sun watching sport.

Basically Brades wants a sports ground. Anything with "character" or "soul" generally tends to be built of different stands, has grown organically, and wasn't built all at once. With this comes challenges of efficiency, cohesiveness, and the general ability to make it state-of-the-art.

Which, by the way, Brades also wants.

(something about cake and eating it too?)

The new stadium will sell cake.

It is almost identical to Perth stadium, engineering and architecturally. The only difference is the lighting.

And I've seen the other shit they've done. They don't win awards.

Are you referring to Cox, HKS or Hassell?

Because they have been involved in some spectacular projects, and spectacular stadium projects. Lucas Oil, Jerry world in Dallas, US Bank, Adelaide Oval, AAMI Park, MCG, SCG, etc etc.

What do you want? Cut outs, waterfalls over the entrances, different roof line, a wave like Allianz in Sydney or Aviva in Ireland, sails ala Saudi Arabia, an arch like Wembley, no roof like Camp Nou, a blue field like Boise State, floodable like the Coliseum, a straight bowl like Lambeau, all of the above?

Facts? You sound like a neo-con. You haven't stated any facts.
You've stated opinions and made some accusations, without basis, about the architects of the stadium.
That the world is getting fatter? That's a fact.

Which has absolutely zero to do with the stadium design
Of course it does. You need wider seats and more leg room, which affects the size of the stadium. As well as the structural side of things.

So it'd be a slightly smaller cake tin or there'd be more seats

The actual design of the stadium would be the same - a grass oval surrounded by an oval shaped stadium. From the outside it would be the same

Sight lines, seating pitch, angle of slope of the tiers of seating, corporate and media facilities, roof to provide shelter and shade for patrons. Ease of operation for food and drink outlets, access to dunnies etc. These are the same design criteria for every stadium, hence the solutions are all very similar. Most major airports end up pretty similar too, it is not lack of imagination that dictates it.

That's your fact? Seriously?
I haven't got any fatter over the last decade, but at Subiaco if everyone turns up on my row of bench seats, every second person has to lean forward because although our arses can fit on the bench seats, our shoulders can't.
And when I sit in the old three tier stand at Subiaco on the plastic seating I cannot sit without hitting the person in front of me with my knees.
The improved seating isn't because "the world is getting fatter". It's because people don't accept the same standards that they once did.

But none of that has anything to do with your hissy fit about the new stadium. Is there another reason you are complaining?

People are slowly getting taller over time, so more leg room is needed. Safety laws/guidelines are getting more stringent, so more space for aisles, etc. is also needed, reducing capacity per area. Some stadiums have declined improvements because they don't want to reduce capacity. Which I assume is why Subi still has some wooden seats.

Awards, clearly important for you, I just want a bloody good venue to watch my footy - Subi did the job in its day.

lol at how many bites fisherman Brades is getting.
So you're saying he's being a nimrod on purpose just to get bites rather actually being one naturally
