Oh true,

At least with that it’s only an abbreviation, BankWest/Optus wouldn’t be missing much by making it ‘OPS’ or ‘BPS’.

Although the lack of Optus mobile coverage in Perth is eerily similar to the lack of FTA coverage the Stadium will receive in next years fixture.

Keep in mind that varies from state to state. In WA Channel 7 show both games with WA teams involved every week, and they do the same for the other states and their native teams as far as I know.

Interesting to see WCE again refused hosting a home game of another club.

Brisbane & WCE tried for 2018.
Doesn't seem to be online - p83 today's West.

Gold Coast is an exception because of its Ground being in use. the AFL does not want to be in the situation where clubs start selling home games to other clubs on the reg. It would bring the compromised nature of the fixture under more scrutiny that it does not want or need.

Yet they still host in Darwin, Alice Springs, China, Cairns, Launceston, Hobart, Wellington, etc.

Just not WCE in Perth.

or sydney at the SCG, adelaide at AO, or cats at Kat Park

all the cities you mentioned are in markets not serviced by an AFL team, so its allowed on the grounds of expansion of the code

allowing rich teams to buy extra home games at their home deck (ie not shanghai) will skew this game so far in favour of the rich it isnt funny

I think the Coast Eagles backed the wrong horse. It was always going to be a very rare one-off exception, and the AFL were always going to allow it only for the Coast Suns because their ground is directly being used for the Comm Games. Freo offered a deal with with Suns which was more acceptable to the AFL. It'll never happen again for decades.

5.

Disappointing TBH. They've got the best lighting system in the world and the AFL doesn't want to use it. Early in the season when it's likely to be still pretty hot night games are a no brainer, but they scheduled the first 4 games as day or twilight matches.

Don't want to upset those precious Victorian viewers, they need to be tucked up in bed at a GOOD hour !!!.

How does it work? Do you get to pick your seat if you had one at Domain? Do they allocate in a "best fit" position based on a disad vantage point to Domain that as I understand it you probably had little choice about in the first place.
