I hear vic country squad selections have been made. can anyone tell me who got invited to attend Anzac Day's training session?

chris lynch #11 from the geelong falcons will be the surprise packet of 2007. he's come from nowhere as a top age player in under 18's, never made falcons squads before this year and is dominating in tac cup at the moment. he has made the initial vic country squad and is certainly going to be one to watch come draft time. have any of you boys been following closely this year and had a look at the kid? would love to hear your feedback...

Myke Cook from Sandy will be pushing for a spot on the Vic Metro list, he's put in some top performances over the past couple of weeks. Anyone got an opinion on this?

Luke Casey-Leigh, Matthew Suckling and Tom Lynch are the only likely players to have a good chamce at playing Vic Metro this year

I'd say Suckling was all but a definate in this years team, Lynch would be a question mark, only because I don't know where he would play. As for Luke Casey-Leigh, I doubt he would make the team. There are plenty of other KPPs that are far better than he is.

ok dominating might have been a bit to far but for a kid thats come from nowhere he's doing very well. would you say he's a big chance to make the side and would you think draftable at years end?

Geelong are the only Country aligned team I have seen, so I have no idea what his competition is like. I guess he would be going for a wing spot? I believe squads will be 30 this year because of the travel involved, so there are a few more spots up for grabs?

Draft? Long way to go.

anyone tell me what the go is with the bendigo pioneers? this bloke hasn't played a game yet this season, after playing close to every game last season? word is he's been dominating at his local club with the seniors and hes still not getting a game with bendigo? this is a bloke who IMO wouldve played vic country this year and the pioneers have blown his chances all because they want to give their local bendigo kids a go at TAC cup level.

Do Agree that he should be playing in the pioneers was fairly sold contributor last year, but to say he would have been a certain starter in the vic side is rather humerous, maybe MAYBE might make the 40man squad but couldn't see him making it in my opinion after watching him last year and in a couple prac matches. And i would highly doubt that a coach at tac cup level would play 'favourites' with local and out of town boys.

nothing against your opinion, but 'favourites' seems to be the way things go with the pioneers and has been that way for quite some time. it's not a major problem but having pretty close to 100% bendigo based staff and coaches makes it pretty simple to see why so many bendigo kids make the list and get handed games while other non based bendigo kids have to earn a spot in the side.

careful what u say big echuca. i'm quite involved in the pioneers and there is definately no playing 'favourites' going on at all and nor has there been in the past.

if your so involved in the pioneers, you'd have no problem presenting us with a name, and/or positon you hold at the club. otherwise jackdaniels, keep your bias repsonses to yourself.

I tend to agree with Big Echuca. I am in no way involved in the U18's process, but from an outsiders point of view I feel like the Bendigo boys do get more of a free ride. It might be because they get seen more during the pre season, they get seen more in there local club games, they don't have to travel weekly for training which can effect performance, they don't have to travel as far for games. These may all be factors but like I said from an outsider and a local football follower it does appear there is some bias.

I know there are a few local lads from our area in the squad and they seem to have trouble breaking in for a chance even after dominating at there local clubs at senior level.
