My favorite player and the smartest footy brain I have seen in some time in a KPP. Shattered and I can just smelll the tier 3 we'll get for arguably our most important player......again :(

Lucky Rendell stocked up on talls. Your position now Talia.

ps as much as it hurts, you can't hate Phil. He's now financially secure for life. Not to mention he's had 2 serious shoulder reco's and you never know. He did what was right by him....but you broke my heart Phil.....you broke it ...... I hate you Demitriou!

This is a kick in the guts for the Crows.

Very disappointed to lose a promising key position player, especially since we lost Bock the year before. Guess that means they can't take Walker now, which is the only upside I see from this. A little annoyed that the Crows are going to lose 2 players to the new teams, while other teams won't lose any players. But what can ya do?

Good luck to Davis at his new club.

A young first round selection with a big upside being signed for a good wack of coin.

Pretty much sounds like the way the AFL set's the tier 1 compo picks.

If the Crows look at the bright side of this they get two pick's for Davis no to get Walker the GWS is going to have to trade so they are in a prime position for a Ben Kennedy trade as well.

Outside of the money factor, has he just dramatically increased his chances of playing in a premiership?
No disrespect to Adelaide but they are just 1/16.

The way everyone goes on about these new clubs, it's like they're a certainty to win one within the next 8 years.

what a kick in the nuts!

Still, refreshing the lad had the balls to tell the club at this juncture.

That's quite enough testicle metaphors from me for now.

Spot on. I just cannot abide the suggestion that clubs should banish anyone who comes forward and admits to having accepted terms elsewhere well before the end of a season. These are professional athletes. Clubs have no problem shipping a bloke off during the ten minutes of trade week, but expect the players to be entirely selfless in return. Moving your life requires some serious thought and it's quite fair enough that they plan these things out.

Don't Ask, Don't Tell is an antiquated approach.

Adelaide signed up for this.

I also recall the Adelaide CEO saying that small Melbourne clubs shouldn't receive funding etc.

The capitalist sword is double edged.

At the end of the day, it is the clubs' responsibility to get their players signed up.

Honestly, I would of preferred Walker going over Phil. This is a huge blow for the AFC's defender stocks, the only reason Bock's departure last year wasn't taken as bad was because we knew we had a solid up and coming CHB in Davis. **** GWS, I bet you they offerred him something 'Ward' ridiculous.

I'd say pick 10-12 (?) in that 08 draft is about as important to Adelaide as one of about fifty number one picks are to Melbourne.

Adelaide should get the best compo. They want to win games of footy. Who cares what compo Melbourne get?

I think Davis was from the ACT originally.

Can't blame him to be honest but a huge blow for us.

We will get very little from the compensation. In reality we should get at least pick 10 but no chance of that.

Our Club will bounce back but its going to be some very hard yards given what we have lost in the last couple of years.

Depends on his coin that he is earning.

You could quite conceivably end up with a higher pick than 10. (In the 2012 supposed super draft)

He might qualify for Band 2 comp which is a pick after your first round selection. So if you guys come 13th next year - that is pick 7.

Otherwise it will be pick 19
