I guess I made a mistake.
3 to Melbourne for 6 11.

North trades in 1,2024r3 for 2,6,15.
North has 1,11,17,18 this year.
I think that is more likely.

If West Coast and North are going to trade, may as well trade 3 elsewhere to generate more overall value for North/ West Coast combined.
Yeah I was taking the piss mate. All good, winding you up.
I am of the firm belief we will not trade out 2 and 3, regardless of the machinations.
Have stated this already, but I think looks more likely to be 2 and 15, maybe 2nd rounder comes into it, dunno.
Colby looks an absolute jet to me, more of what we actually need structure wise. Taking nothing away from Reid , he looks terrific too, but with probably more of that leadership quality.
If Eagles want McKercher and we want Reid things will happen.
It’s all good too if the eagles wanna sit where they are. I like the various scenarios though. Good game.
It’ll all work out either way.

Have you ever heard this bloke give an interview? Never gives anything away and gives the most open ended answers.
Just that interview. Most list managers, like Rawlings, say absolutely nothing. O'Brien seemed comparatively open. He said they would listen to offers for pick one and hadn't decided who they'd take if they kept it. It didn't seem particularly ambiguous.

No, keep your picks as we are taking Reid.

“We are happy to listen to any offers but by no means are we putting a price on pick one,” O’Brien reiterated.

“We are trying to bring in elite young talent as we transition our list and it’s not very often you have pick one at your disposal, so it would have to be an extraordinary offer for us to consider trading that selection."

Extraordinary offer to even consider trading. Not 2 and something else.

They don't. They expect pick 1 and Reid.
ROB has repeated that it would take a extraordinary offer to give up pick one .ROB is in the box seat as if he picks Reid you won't find a Eagles supporter who will be dissapointed. So far i have heard pitiful offers as to what is fair. Pick one is not a fair pick.Pick one gives you the choice of who you think is the best player available from a compromised draft. Other clubs apart from North are interested and will ask the question. It will take a extraordinary offer from somebody to make us give up pick one.
Having two top five picks would be handy but realistically we will be in the bottom four next year and getting another top talent next year.

Are you kidding? Rawlings basically said in his interview with Trade Radio last week that they knew who they were going to pick with selections 2 and 3. He also spoke frankly about their prior offer to West Coast.

Neither of which IIRC O'Brien has touched on. At most he speaks vaguely about the general number of offers (but not the substance of them), comments how impressive whichever player he is asked about at the time performed this year and remarks that West Coast is open to a trade but won't put a price on the trade. Honestly sounds like he's taking the p**s and completed disinterested in the questions, probably because he is on both counts.

Not that Rawlings' approach is necessarily the wrong way to play this scenario, but I don't think it's accurate to say that Rawlings plays his cards close to his chest comparatively.

Given the language coming out of WC and the offer already rejected, there's not a snowflakes chance in hell that 2 and 15 gets close
Maybe North is happy to take either Reid or McKercher. If thats the case and likely so then why would we offer anything involving pick 2?
Or maybe we rate Reid slightly above and wont offer more than 2 and 18.
Then its on WC if they take on the obvious flight risk.
Personally im more than happy to plug McKercher in on a wing for the next 12 years. The kid is a running line breaking machine.

He's not a flight risk. And even IF Tassie does come hard for him you can bet they have the currency to compensate us extremely well. Where as theres nothing more certain Reid will come back to Vic at some stage.

Like Geelong got compensated for Ablett?

Really? What's your reasoning for this?

If he does, he's going to Collingwood anyway.

I’m not sure if just a good media narrative or not. Eagles don’t seem to have retention issues. Freo should seriously look at drafting strategy or culture though.
Eagles have been hit hardest prob only 2nd to hawks with Compo picks this year. Pick 1 great pick. Next one starting at 23 and prob being pushed to 28 is why trading starts to make more sense.
don't forget 15,17,18 are all going to be pushed out as well. in a very shallow pool is taking 2 or 3 swipes in the 20s instead of just 1 really worth trading out of pick 1?

Because the reporter who shares the same manager has said so. In fact he suggested WC know and wont even select him.
We'll just use pick 2 thanks, take who you want at 1 simples.

Anyone that suggests that 2 and 16 is a good offer for Harley Reid should be thread banned. It's a laughable offer that would lead to WCE hanging up the phone and blocking North's number. No one is trading down from the clear number one pick in the draft to pocket a pick in the late teens.

You took 8, 12 and change for pick 2 last year. That is similar.

No no no

Don't listen to that bit

haha right, thats why WC keeps standing pick 1 out on the street corner like hooker and you guys spend all your time trying to pimp it.

Lol. Keep repeating something you might even start beleiving it yourself one day.

North isnt getting Reid unless they pony up. Montagna thinks North shouldnt offer 2 or 3 and the 'ball is in West Coasts court'. Lol. It isnt because without pick 2 as a starter North havent got tne ball back over the net yet.

As for the Eagles selling the pick hard. If they want more picks their F 1st gets them ......and they keep Reid. Its that simple. Getting 4 late 1sts that slide into picks in the mid 20's isnt even a real offer.

You are 100% correct.

Eagles play round 2 in Victoria. And Reid will likely be back in Victoria for that game.

Whats also certain is that if Reid landed at North he'd be planning his dream home and requesting a trade to Geelong in a couple of years just as the Cats start climbing the ladder.

North made a small play with a bunch of picks before spending them, but as far as we all know have not offered anything else. Its not North who keeps talking about trading for pick 1 its WC themselves. WC themselves have tried to dampen the massive overs expectations saying the gap isnt as big between Reid and the rest as your fans have been conditioned to believe.
So why havent North offered pick 2 and Clarko's first born? Probably because we're comfortable with either Reid or McKercher. North are under no pressure to make an offer, the vast majority of North supporters are hoping we dont offer more than 2 and 15 with more and more hoping we make NO further offers at all.
If you want to rebuild that aging list with more than picks 1 and 25 you know where to find us. We might be willing to discuss it.
