Reckon he needs to start finding 1 or 2 more touches per quarter to take him up to that 25-30 the elite midfielders get and start hitting the scoreboard more to take his game to the next level. I'm confident though, seems determined and has a no-fuss attitude I like.

the disruptor is our best defensive mid, it's not all about his possessions. he breaks up opposition possession chains through his tackling, pressure and go-go gadget arms. willem drew has a 200cm wingspan which is not widely known.

may or may not be influenced by buddy status

I think he's a B grader and the type of player who is ideally a depth player because that means you've got a strong team (the opposite is also true).
Yep. I don't think he's below the required standard to play in a Premiership with good enough players (and coaching, obviously) around him, but he wouldn't get a game in a really elite midfield.

I think it's funny that some say our best hope of elite tap ruckman is no good because he doesn't get enough ball, but 1 of our full-time mids getting not enough ball is OK because he is being defensive on mids roving to dominant tap rucks

I don't think they're similar players at all tbh.

Both inside players with mobility and endurance.

Boak more attacking and goal scoring, whilst drew a pressure beast with more 1%s and tackles.

I see drew as his natural replacement as he is more similar than say wines, SPP, Bonner, rozee or duurs

Butters has a decent claim to be boaks replacement but I can see him being used in the forward line

I see Drew being a Brad Sewell type player.

Sewell only had 2 seasons in his career in which he averaged over 25 disposals but dam was he an effective player who played his role well. Drew doesn’t have to be getting 25-30 touches a game if he keeps up the defensive side of his game with high tackle and clearance numbers.

Would love him to get his average disposal number into the low 20s (he's currently around 18/game) but given the development of Rozee going through the middle, the reliance on Drew to step up offensively has diminished. An elite pressure defensive midfielder doing all the little things right, who I suspect will get more plaudits once the team has more on-field success and in particular, as the current midfield brigade develops.

Worried Drew is getting called out. Needs to take a massive step to be worthy of picking ahead of a few others.
I don't really see how that is 'worrying'. He is training well. That is good. He is a good player who has shown he can do great things at AFL level. Hopefully a good preseason helps him build consistency and be able to go up a level at games.

I thought he was really positive about Drew

Lol it's amazing how people interpret things differently. JC was actually pretty glowing of Drew
Yes he called him out as a top performer, for me this is disappointing. I want to see him phased out and playing SANFL personally.

Because he’s incapable of improving from where he is or you just don’t like him? Think he’s still got plenty of room for growth and absolutely shouldn’t be written off yet.

His ceiling is a Josh Kennedy mid type, but I don't think he has much improvement left in him. I'd rather ensure his minutes are going to Rozee, Butters and JHF.
