Crickey, just dodged that bullet!:thumbsu:

Geez, I hope Day slips to 4th. If not a quality 10 year mid is the go, not so tall, more agile with pace and kicking skills.

Omg omg omg i hope so badly day or bennell slide. but they wont.
The best mids for us will be atley he's agile and quick and can kick but he's 187 atm i think. so kinda tall.

OK, so who's the next out of contract West Australian that we'll target for pick 4? Anyone? Any takers?

I reckon we'll give up pick 4 for Neville Jetta, or maybe Luke Miles. See if the papers run with that one?

Seriously Eagles Wells is not far behind Tambling for being one of the biggest dud low 1st round picks ever taken.

So we give up pick 4 for Wells (Tambling) and Norths take Day (Franklin) with pick 4 in the draft.:eek::eek:

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Just NO!

Dude, I know it is your board and so on, but that is just so far wide of the mark it is not funny.

I'm glad Daniel is staying.

He was never going anywhere.

I'd also point out that Wells seems to get judged at a far harsher rate than any other player in the league.

I agree with you - I think he's a good player and harshly judged. Would've spat it if we gave up pick 4 for him though ;)

Fair enough too. Honestly, I never wanted Daniel to go and good judges round North knew about 10 days ago he wasn't going, but if he had, then getting pick 4 would have been a mighty good deal IMO.

For the record, come next season when opposition coaches have to think very carefully about how they'll handle Liam Anthony, Cunnington, Ziebell, Swallow and Bastinac as well as Daniel, then you'll see him really thrive.

Daniel was never going to be a Judd or Cousins style drag the team over the line midfielder, though he has done it a few times for us. Now, with very talented kids alongside him and more importantly, getting it out to him, Daniel is set to be huge.

Best of luck for your lot - its a shame for both of us that David Swallow will end up at GC. You have the home state thing, we have the brothers reunited thing.

Good luck to your team as well mate.Congratulations also to Brett Harvey.

He's 25.

Hasn't won AA selection and the best result at his own club is a runners up B&F.

Sure he has shown a bit more than Tambling in some games but his fitness and form haven't been consistant.

Wouldn't mind comparing Brownlow votes to players of similar age.

Wells has shown glimpses of his skill and potential but no way has he really delivered to date.

North reminds me of us this time last year:

- patting themselves on the back for their awesome drafting
- listing midfielders before declaring their own bright future
- overconfident

This time last year we said we were three years away.

Now we are two and have improved significantly this year.

Back on topic:

I'm not entirely sure why WCE wanted Wells anyway?

Who's to say WC really wanted him in the first place. Rumors and reports should be taken with a pinch of salt, we all know this. WC's 2nd pick wasn't enough, but their 1st was too much to pay for Wells. So the Journo (Jon Ralph) must have reasoned by assuming that it has to be pick 4 because that's what WC currently have, currency wise, and that WC must be desperate to get mature aged talent considering the season they just had, so they'll use that currency to trade for Wells.

The Journo probably put together the fact that WC hadn't ruled out taking a mature aged player in a trade, also that all draft picks were on the table, and it also being the case that Wells was out of contract and originally from WA, equates to Wells to WC for pick 4.

I didn't believe it was ever going to happen. It was a beat up by the Journo that grew legs on BF.

It is not just us, there have been general public articles that felt we had a very good draft last year getting Cunnington, Black and Bastinac with the picks we had overall and have felt our recruiting from about 2007 to now has been first rate.

You wont really know how well you go until the KPP really develop. This time last year Hansen was called a complete spud, we saw glimpsed a few years ago about what he could do and now he is starting to do it more consistently.

Grima has come good, Goldstein is looking good. We still need guys like Tarrant, Black, O'Keefe and others to also come good, we will get back Petrie next year and hopefully his feet don't continue to give him issues.

We said last year Wright will be a very good player and he is starting to perform a lot more up forward.

But, they are all still raw and inexperienced, they still need another year or two of development work in them and hopefully we start to see some more of the KP youth start to emerge. I think the mids are pretty good quality but we could use a few more outside ball magnet mids with good disposal skill.

Lets chase Krakour from Port now.. We can get him for free in the draft.

dont want to make a reasonable offer before jumping at psd and screwing a team over?? what goes around comes around, which is why teams do the civil thing, cause sooner or later you will have to deal with us again. i think he will go home, to you or freo. pick 38 in a strong draft widely considered a bargain, 22 yrs old, has been patchy in form, mostly due to being played as a defender. much better as a wingman or forward. hasnt played much this year either. i would want something similar to what we spent for him ie pick 38. i should think he is worth way more than that though, probably 25-35.

There is no question he is a skillful and pacey player. When he gets the ball he rarely makes a mistake and is one of the best kicks around. The big problem is that he doesn't get on the park as much as he should and even when he does, he goes missing in action for long periods in most of his games. Even the most ardent Roos fans must question why he doesn't get in the play more often. In this situation WC would be crazy to offer a high draft pick for him.

The best you would probably get is a player swap or pick 45.

Swap for Sullivan our ex rookie ruck aged 20/21 if no-one else is interested.

We can wait to the end of trade week and throw in any late picks we won't need / use. This will depend on other players we trade out but could be our 3rd rounder pick 45 and / or our 4th pick 62.

Hell we will offer you any of Hansen, B Jones, Nicoski, Wilson and Cockie. If you are interested in any of them you don't need to wast a draft pick.

Sure the club should offer up something but no way will you get a top deal, we have just finished last, are hurting bad and need to get aggressive on and off the field.

I'm sure something can and will be offered, just don't expect a 2nd rounder or a decent player.

A pick in the 30's would be fair. And you're right, there's not much value in trying to screw a club over - it's not something West Coast tend to do either.

yeah, would be fairly happy to see that under these circumstances. i honestly blame choco for talking him out of going back last time. should have happened then. hasnt really ever looked happy since he has been in sa. to me anyway. which is why ild be surprised if he did go to gc, i think his manager is just using that to get what he wants.

He's walked out of the club. Port should have traded him when he wanted to leave instead of convincing (forcing) him to stick around.
I say we contact he's manager make a offer and pick him up for free.
No point wasting a pick.
