Controversial question - Does this prove that WAFL is not as tough of a comp as VFL?

He was also playing against Perth, the bottom of the ladder team

(sorry Carbine Chaos)

Would like to think it wasn't just the 5 goals he kicked that got the call up.
Hopefully they just saw something in him right from the start and his game last week just emphasized what they saw.
Am thinking he is a quality bloke who can play and they just want to get him in the team and what better time than vs Nth just before the bye. Helps we have a few outs.

Looking forward to seeing Simmo play him on the wing. 😂
Sub. Brought on in the last 10 minutes of the last quarter for 4 disposals. Dropped for a returning senior player the following week.

more on Jack from Jarryd Blair the Wonthaggi coach.

Collingwood premiership star Jarryd Blair on West Coast debutant Jack Hutchinson’s journey from country to AFL

Jack Hutchinson’s athleticism used to leave Collingwood premiership player Jarryd Blair and his Wonthaggi Power teammates lost for words.
Blair, who is the coach of the Power, brought Hutchinson and his best mate Ryan Sparkes over from Inverloch-Kongwak to add a spark to his side before the 2022 Gippsland League season.
At the end of last year, he recommended both head to Collingwood’s VFL program to take the next step in their fledging career.
Hutchinson had booted 72 goals in only 35 games for the Power, becoming known for his ability to take hangers and leave others in his wake.
He didn’t skip a beat at the Magpies, where he kicked nine goals in seven games and also took the big marks that caught the eye of AFL recruiters.
Less than two weeks ago Hutchinson was picked up by the Eagles with pick No.3 in the mid-season rookie draft.
Hutchinson instantly showed he was ready for the AFL when four days later he kicked five goals on WAFL debut against Perth in Northam.

On Saturday he will make his AFL debut against North Melbourne at Optus Stadium with even Blair stunned by the remarkable rise of his former star forward.
“Since he came across to Wonthaggi, I felt like he had the ability to do it (play in the AFL),” Blair told The West Australian.
“He was probably a late developer, but he showed some special attributes. He needed a couple of years of training hard and getting himself right.
“He went up there (to Collingwood), you’re always dreaming of AFL, but it was one step at a time thinking it’d be good to establish himself as a good VFL player and then set his sights on the AFL. But it’s all happened pretty quickly for Jack.”

Blair said it was Hutchinson’s pure athleticism that set him apart from other players that he’d seen in the competitive country league.
“It was his ability to jump, take a mark, crash a pack but also we used to marvel at him when he’d hit a pack, he’d hit the ground and then he’d be back up before anyone knew what was going on,” Blair said. “He’d be tackling and chasing and putting pressure on.
“He learns the game quickly and well. Jack and Sparkesy had only been at Collingwood for a period of time and when they came back, they were explaining the game plan to us and what they’d learnt. They’d been there only a matter of weeks.”

not surprised if there’s gonna be a few more around his age that pop up as late bloomers. Covid years would have stunted a few lads development

Thats an excellent point Vishy and one thats missed by many.
Covid jerked around many of the kids growth and development as young players.

Simo mentioned they were impressed with what he did without the ball. Played a role. Good effort with or without the ball.
