Was floored we selected him this week given how stripped back his WAFL role was.

Had a few nearly moments, the service to him in particular was diabolical in the first quarter. Nice clean set of hands to set up Waterman’s goal square goal.

Build his role naturally before throwing him back in the deep end.

Hutchison got in the right spots.

That's beats a majority of beaters we have in this squad.

Step 1 is getting to the right spot. Step 2 is doing something with it. Most of players dont get to right spot often so it's good hutch so far does. Unless norf was deliberately letting hutch get free

Agree wholeheartedly with this, had so many almost moments today. Definitely something to work with here…

I actually liked his game, surprised to read his stat line to be honest.

3 tackles inside 50 is a good start.

Loved the way he flew for the ball, zero chance of the defenders getting the intercept mark when he does that and he was back on his feet to pressure the eventual spill.

Be better if he takes them obviously but I didn't mind that at all.

Solid debut for the kid. He has some awareness and skill. Raw, but something to work with. I don't expect his initial stint in the AFL to be long but even with a bye ahead, I'd be disappointed to see him dropped for the next game.

Thought he showed enough athletically with his speed and movement that he has upper level athleticism at AFL level.

Was always going to be pretty poor given he probably still doesn't know half his teammates names. Now send him back to WAFL and let him build. Could see him est 22 next year if he has a good preseason, definitely fills a role we need.

At times i didn't particularly rate his defensive efforts. I'm like "Oh good we've got a player there, pressure pressure pressure, here we go you're cooked......" And old mate would just show zero intensity and lumber after the Norf defenders. Odd, considering he's supposed to have a set of wheels on him. I'm guessing he was just cooked adjusting to the fitness of AFL, which would be a reasonable explanation.

His flying for marks is quite special though. Definitely something to work with there. Particularly when it's a pack situation, 4 guys jump up and Darling is still trying to take a chest mark.

100% the burst in the first quarter and part of the second looked promising, just run out of legs quite quickly.

was a baffling choice for a game on the weekend - dont know what the match committee was expecting of a player who has been with his team for a week and has no afl fitness training

When Oscar is back, he would be at the back of the queue so give him a taste now? No idea really. We did need more mids.
