Yep had a listen . Positive young fella , almost the perfect back up for Motlops spot if he gets injured , dropped or moved but then again that's Amons role .
Oh well we've got four wingmen to choose from .
Barry could surprise it'll be an interesting battle for those spots

I missed the part in the interview where he thanks me for being his buddy and lifting his profile, was it edited?

;)
I think he said he was going to try to make a go of it in spite of this burden.

Lol now we’re having this argument again.

Probably not, but I still would’ve much preferred for us to have persisted with the top 10 pick gun athlete key forward than with the likes of Kane Mitchell and Jake Neade. It’s about potential upside. If there’s a parallel universe out there where John Butcher reached his full potential and another parallel universe out there where Kane Mitchell reached his full potential, you can bet that Port are a better side in the Butcher universe.

Overall I think there are more positives than negatives to Ken Hinkley as coach but the one thing above all else that bugs me about him is his preference at the selection table for limited triers over talented but inconsistent confidence players and his lack of respect at the selection table for forward structure. Ah Chee’s non-selection is an example of the former, Butcher’s non-selection is an example of both.
Jake Neade is a far better footballer than Butcher imo. Neade in form makes Port a much more dangerous team. He needs a strong pre-season to fire early otherwise the new recruits will swamp him

Very confident none of the players we traded will come back to bite us. Extremely comfortable
Impey will probably cause some heartache but I think they let him go for compassionate reasons. Hes a far better player than he showed in the last couple of years. Needs to really knuckle down or he will waste his career. Clarkson should help in this regard.

I should have replied to some of the Hawks fans who came over here asking us for our honest opinion of Impey. I felt that the club “gifted” Jarman about 50 games eventually hoping that the penny would suddenly drop. It never did!! He would do something brilliant and then stuff it up with a poor decision, a bad kick, an easy miss or a complete brain fade. Besides he would go missing for lengthy periods of the game.
If Clarkson can make an above average footballer out of Impey then good luck to all involved at Hawthorn although I feel that he will play more games for Box Hill than for the AFL side.

I thought his best year was his first

Yep. Nicks has been giving Dom big wraps. Big runner. May well play round 1. Well done Dom.

I think he has been a very astute pickup by the club and will play a large portion of the year. He was very highly rated before he left Melbourne.

We let him go because his Dad died and he was in a really, really bad mental space. He needed to be around family and I'm glad Port put his mental health first. Its decisions like this (people oriented decisions) that makes Port an appealing club to come to.

I know I'm pointing out the obvious here but I get this inkling that if Impey does come good everyone externally will be going 'WOW PORT LET HIM GO FOR PEANUTS' when its a case of 'No shit we did, the club actually gives a flying **** about their players wellbeing'

Imp was playing to his ability here. I was concerned we let him go cheap but if you can pick up a player at 60 in the draft that can step straight into his spot well done to our talent scouts. Imp will be the same player at the Hawks he was here. He didn’t want for opportunities he had good players around him we will all just move on.

Big wraps would keep him motivated. But will be a hard team to crack into come round 1

I reckon we've probably got 19-20 locks (depending on if the coaching staff rate Houston as highly as I do) but the other 2-3 spots are well and truly up for grabs. Dom is as good a chance as any to nab one of them if he continues to impress in the pre-season.

Travis said today he was impressed with Dom .. also said he is very quick, pity person trying to run him down :D

At the AGM Ken didn't say much about players but he did mention that Houston wasn't one of the quickest blokes going around but his kicking is one of the best in the team. This was in reference to a question from the floor on our poor kicking skills.

He got exposed a few times this year with his pace (and fitness at times) but what he does have in spades is footy iq and leadership.
