I'm all for it, 'no guts no glory'.
If I look at it over a 3 year period I'm pretty happy however they damn well do it, as follows:

2018 > Rozee + Duursma + Butters

2019 > McAsey, Kemp, Robertson, Stephens, Weightman, Worrell, Gould, De Koning, Day, Sharp, Pickett (choose 3 of)
2019 > + Mead + Burgoyne

2020 > Schofield + Jones + ...

Bring it on.

That's why I like Port's move today. You just can't complain about it.
If we had made no trade we still wouldve got ’3 plus Mead’ but one of them would come in 2020, and we couldve still done something with 29

It does feel like we always offer a bit more than was really needed.
Or a lot more. I'm not one of those who thinks there has to be a clear winner or loser from trades. They should be win-win. I'm struggling to think of one's in the last 7 years, for either players in or out where you'd even go 'Yep, Port were clearly on the plus side of that trade', let alone 'Port made out like bandits there'. I'd honestly rather have Dodo as our list manager and get 4 out of 5 trades going nowhere, as the other 1 you'd make out like bandits.

Replace half the names in that list with Rivers and yep.

Then add to this: potential of getting Luko for Wines. And seeing if we can pony up up enough in 2021 draft picks for Hately if that looks a good option...

Then add the others: Hayes, Marshall, Pep, Burton, Houston, DBJ, Garner.... if we can keep this list together and under a good coach the future looks bloody bright.

Last years trading as a whole worked out perfectly fine

Unless they got someone in mind they really want this year?
Presumably this is the case.

And are happy with Taj next year?
There’s a whole year to wait and see tbh.

Turning up fat to combine seems to have turned two-time u18 All Australian Will Gould into second round bait, things can change a lot and quickly.

On face value the trade is poo. However on face value last years trading was cook and it worked out. Next years draft must be pretty bad and we already have Schofield and Jones. We really don't need a rebounding third defender or small mid this year. Pick 29 was always going to go. It does seem like we are going to trade again. The draft should be exciting!

Playing pokies isn’t taking a risk! It’s just plain stupidity, those machines are rigged
I used to design the software that runs them, they aint rigged. They are 100% random. The reels are just static and set up with fixed combinations that over time will mathematically return only 85-90% to the player. The best option on a pokie machine is the gamble function. It is legitimately a 50/50 random option every time.

So youre Telling me it's totally 50/50 between who profits and who doesn't??? Between gambler and owner???

You have been to the KH school of BS.

It stinks of ‘make finals next year or die trying’.
To me it stinks of ’we have no plan for recruiting our next focal KPF so lets flank it up baybeeee’

52 and 55 = 453, plus we have other later picks (66, 67, 68, 71) with 237 points attached. Depending on how many picks we need to take (I can't remember), it feels like we are fine.

690 points worth of late picks there ..... allows us to match 860 points (with a 20% discount)... which is roughly pick 22 give or take given earlier bids.

I hope you are correct.

The #29 we had was worth 653 which was probably enough with a 20% discount and a couple of later picks. Given that we have traded a 2020 first round pick and #29 we would need to take three first round picks plus Jackson Mead in 2019 to be in front on this deal. Anything less and we may as well have kept the #29, used a first round on Jackson and had a first round pick in 2020.

I reckon the Club must have an inkling that Mead will go at 22 or later.

I keep looking at this deal and thinking there's an extra second rounder coming to us that I've missed or something. I just can't get my head around it.

So if we win the flag next year, we've traded 18 next year + 29 this year for 16 + two picks in the 50's this year. That's barely a breakeven. And that's best case scenario.

If we finish in roughly the same spot this year as next year, we've traded 10 for 16 and 29 for a couple of picks in the 50's. That's an insanely bad deal. And that's assuming we don't get any worse. Which we may very well do.
