Rohan O'Callaghan - told Katty if he didnt get Barooga job he would coach them, but instead has opted to go to Woorinen and coach which is i think where Jason Kerr (Cobrams coach) came from, leaving the Tigers still chasing someone.

Looks like Wazza90 is spot on the money with John Walker signing with the Shepp Bears....

Not too sure how John will go, I reckon he is very lazy as a player and just thinks his size will do it for him...
What are you basing this on. Have seen a bit of him over the last couple of years and can't say I've formed that opinion.Looks like a really good player to me and perhaps he falls into the category of the really good players seem to make it look easy.Just my opinion and I suppose time will tell but I think that the Bears will be very happy with him.

I too have seen him over the last couple of years, When we played them this year he had prob 2 pos, and the rest of the time he was just running round as if he did not care, he was still getting paid the big bucks....... Money can do that to players......I also talked to a number of players during the year from numerous clubs and funny enough they had the same opinion..... So id say Picola Wasted there money........

I have to agree he dominates the weaker side and goes missing against the top contenders when getting a kick becomes a lot tougher. It’s easy to look good playing against boys in under age comps but now he has to stand up because his playing against men.

Club Review

Club - Wunghnu
Position in 2008 - 16th
Senior 2008 B & F winner - ??
Most important player/ person - Clarke and non playing coach Craig, explained below
Up and coming star - ??
What went right in 2008 - The discipline amongst the playing group was outstanding and appears that a no crap, despite circumstances, policy was put in place and certainly improved the image of the club.
What went wrong in 2008 - No wins was probably a tad dissappointing as little benefit may have been seen from the playing group.
Coach for 2009 - Craig
Possible losses for 2009 - ?
Possible gains for 2009 - ?
Looking toward 2009 - Think the club is probably in the best position is has been for some time to recruit.
Craigs ability to install the discipline, and improvement of image, that he has in one season should not be underestimated , hence his inclusion in the most important player/ person within the club.
Looking from afar it appears he has taken a no crap rule and has followed it to the letter, despite possibly at times affecting immediate results, which has significantly changed the direction which the club is heading in a significantly positive way.
Some , including myself, would have thought the strong position he appears to have taken would have taken significantly longer to have an effect or may have been the final straw for the Magpies, good on him for having the courage.
Think key position and class on ballers will be high on their shopping list who have major league experience, yet have a few years in front of them , may see the Magpies really improve in the next few years under the current structure.

it always amuses me that some people only gauge the value of a player on their posessions... now obviously being based in Sydney, I most likely wasnt at the game you mention, but I have followed this kids footy career for years now and the behind the play in and under action this kid comands is an absolute credit to him, and the fact he only had 2 possessions will not have been testiment to the other work i am sure he would have been doing. Johns biggest downfall, as far as I am concerned, is he makes it look far too easy and some people can be easily mistaken and consider this to be "lazy"... id also say picola didnt "waste" their money, their side was never going to do big things and one elite player is never going to fix that..last time i checked footy is a team game and not one stand out player wins matches alone... just my thoughts... hope he does well with the Bears anyway.

also... just wondering whether the Meyland boys will stay on at Waaia or move on to the GV league aswell?? heard whispers they might be stepping it up a bit also....

its always hard to keep the young guns in the lower leagues...many have been so loyal to their clubs over the years..but i think developmentally speaking its suicide not to try your hand at a higher level...would be good to see how those brothers go in a higher league, have seen very impressive stuff from them over the years

Hayden Best from the Shepp Swans will be coaching Shepp East next year. I'm guessing he will be taking Robert Osborne ( not the brother of Dale ) the Tally coach out there with him, as he needs to return the favour because Best went for a year to Tally when Osborne first started coaching them.

Good pick up if they get both of those players
So that now leaves
Katunga - ???
Yarroweyah - ???
Katty - ???
Jerilderie - ???
Berrigan - ???
Without coaches yet if i have got that right!

My Footy - for more than just keyboard junkies.
Footy - I don't think we are exaggerating when we say that footy is the most important development ever in human civilisation.

And just when you thought BigFooty couldn't be any more footy'ish, sudddenly it has!

BigFooty has returned to the roots, the grass roots and introduced a new section 'MyFooty' for those people who are more than just keyboard junkies and actually participate in this fair game in some capacity.

Need to talk about injuries? Talk to us.

Auskick? Consult the good doctor.

Footy club administration? Speak to others who face the same issues and have done it all before.
