As the Gowers caravan rolls on DW , does your spreadsheet have the capacity to do an "off the stick" total for each entry. Gowers is like the single figure handicapper playing off 36 in a stableford, a shoe in for the meatpack after 5 holes...the old timers at the 19th saying 'burglar' and complaining to the committee:p

Reckon we should split the comp into two divisions like the old VFA: those with Gowers and those without. Winner of Div 2 automatically gets Billy at 80-point handicap next season.

RESULTS PIEMAN - ROUND 6 vs CARLTON

Hi all. I'm deputising for dogwatch this week - hopefully I'm able to deliver Pieman results with the same poise (and excuse the variations in the format as I make the transition to Mac).

Pieman Player of the Week

After a hat-trick of wins to Billy Gowers the past three rounds we have a new winner: Patrick Lipiniski's three goals at a 65 handicap gave him a round score of 195. For the lucky two who nominated Paddy as banker (Fossie32 and SayerTheCreator) this gave them a whopping 375 Pieman points.

Billy still out in front. Lipinski in to second position.

The KELVIN

A huge week for those sticking with Billy Gowers as banker... but an even bigger week for those brave enough to roll the dice with Patrick Lipinski.
SayerThe Creator added some handy points courtesy of Toby McLean to take out this weeks Kelvin. Fossie32 took silver, astonishingly with only scoring player. JoshFunkley and grassman75 tied for third place as the best of the Gowers devotees. Here's this week's top ten:

The Pieman

No change at the top this week as grassman75 maintains a lead over JoshFunkley and ScragCity. Special mention to Fossie32 who climbed an incredible 35 places from 49th to 14th!

This week's table includes a 'bankers remaining' column to assist participants manage their banker selections over the remaining 16 rounds.

Any comments - fire away. Hopefully I'll develop the finesse of dogwatch as I fill in from time to time during the remainder of the season.

My first team posted did but i changed before round 1 seduced by English handicap :(
Me too. Took out Lipinski for Honeychurch. What was I drinking?

A Lipi led recovery! Shades of 2016 with my team refusing to bow to decimation by injuries!

You mean a straight list of which teams of 6 have got the most goals?
Yep, I used to publish that a few years back but it was a bit too much info and slightly distracting from the main game. I'll see what I can do as a one-off...

OK Next Waiting here it is.

It was an interesting exercise because the top two turned out to be the same top two as the Pieman leaderboard. That shouldn't really be a surprise when you think about it because Gowers is currently the club's leading goalscorer after all, regardless of handicap.

A couple of points explained first:
1. This is a simple exercise to calculate which team of 6 has kicked the most goals. It doesn't take the best 4 out of 6 each week as the Pieman does.
2. It does not have bankers factored in.

Anyway, kudos to grassman75 - his team comprises the top 6 goalscorers for the club. That is, 32 goals is the highest possible result after 6 rounds! Nobody else is close.

The table doesn't really prove much though. If there was a prize for most goals instead of most Pieman Points then we'd probably all choose different teams.

However it's worth noting that if you picked the 6 notional favourite players i.e. those with the lowest handicaps (Bont, Dickson, Redpath, Dale, JJ and Schache) you would only have 15 goals after 6 rounds and you'd be in 41st place on the team-goals list!
Doesn't say much for the handicapper does it?

TEAM GOALS - WHICH TEAM OF 6 HAS KICKED THE MOST GOALS AFTER SIX ROUNDS?

It's a long season dogwatch. I fear I've peaked too early....the precious bankers getting used up early. Should I keep riding the Gowers train? I forgot to take him in Rd 1, but that might work in my favour

Fingers crossed that I can go all the way and become a dual pieman!
