Pies make Jolly offer

Are you plain stupid or don't realize that Sydney/Collingwood have probably had the best trading r/l of any 2 clubs in the AFL? Their list manager played numerous GF's for us.

True, we have never got a raw deal from Collingwood when it comes to the trade period. If the Swans agree to Jolly's request and trade him back to Victoria, we will talk to Collingwood first EVERY time and if Collingwood can put together a 1st Round Pick + Decent Young Player as a deal (clearly Brown and Dick are both off limits), then the Swans will be more than likely to do a trade with them.

Far more likely than we would if Hawthorn, Carlton or Essendon were involved.

We also get along well trade wise with St Kilda and Melbourne. The rest are neither here nor there to be honest but generally are fair and honest. But we have no issues or problems when it comes to trading with Collingwood.

It'll probably end up being Pick 14 + Fraser for Jolly. I understand Sydney fans wanting a bit more for one of their best, but I can't see much more being offered by any other Melbourne club. It says Collingwood want to lock in the deal early Monday so I guess they want to get it out of the way as quickly as possible.

Isn't the whole idea to strengthen your ruck stocks?

Brown would be off the table as he is our future full back, but Dick isn't in the same catergory and would be tradeable under the right circumstances.

On his own, what would you value a trade for Brad Dick for?

Also What Young Key Position Defender do you have that you would be willing to let go.

Understand I wasn't valuing Brad Dick at "just" a 3rd Round Pick but if he was included in a deal for Jolly along with you 1st Round Pick and a young KP Defender would a 3rd Round Pick be enough to get the trade over the line (because clearly without a another pick from the Swans it wouldn't get get over).

The problem with the move is most of our young players are under contract so they must agree to be traded. I can 100% tell you Brad Dick will never agree to be traded out of Collingwood unless it was back home (WA).

I have no idea what the trade will look like, but I have full faith that if Jolly wants to come to Collingwood that these two clubs will make it happen. (maybe Scott Reed could be involved being a NSW boy)

Sydney played bitch tactics last year, not Hawthorn. And where is talk of Collingwood's bad trading rep coming from??

LOL. Care to expand?

The Hawks never made any offer to O'Keefe that interested him (according to O'Keefe.)

And the Swans never received anything approaching a sensible trade offer for him from Hawthorn.

So all that happened was Hawthorn huffed and puffed all week, giving the impression they were interested but never came close to meeting either side's terms.

And the Swans played "bitch tactics"?

Is it any wonder they are now playing hardball with the dogs over Hall? A month ago they were happy to let him go for nothing.

I really hope we can snag Jolly, but its gonna be tough dealing with Sydney. Even Choco is better

Not sure if people have been living in a cave the last decade, but Collingwood had a rep that made Pelchen sound like father christmas. It is why they have been stuck with mostly dealing in burnt out and unwanted players when their name was involved in every big trade going around.

Yeah, I am sure they would be eager to bend over Freo again or trade in washout X and Y but when it comes to the more valuable end of the trading spectrum I don't think any club has had happy dealings with Collingwood for a long, long time.

I hope over the years they have changed but we shall see.

Sydney and Collingwood have a pretty good history with trading so I can't see a deal that is anything but a win for both sides. Getting the jump on this means we have a good shot at securing him for less than what another club might offer since the Hawks and Bombers are slap fighting over Burgoyne.

You sure Liz? I went to & played in a Premiership with ROK at SKC (he is in a circle of friends). Hawthorn/Pelchan stuffed him around, he put a 1st Round on the table & then took it away.

His wife is from an estabilished family from Sydney (the City) & she made the decision for him.

Like Sydney being a good place for Rhyce, Sydney will respect the fact that Jolly wants to return to Melbourne for family reasons. Hine has said Dick (Malthouse rates him highly), Brown, Anthony & Reid are all untouchable.

Mick did hint at the Copeland that we may be trading one of our senior players away, whether that be Davis, Fraser, Lockyer ect I have no idea.

But I think it might be Davis to WCE for pick 7. We'll wait and see on that one though.

And what pick do you reckon the Pies would need to come up with for a straight swap for Jolly?

That's romantic, but Collingwood will need to give up something good to get something good. Jolly is contracted and Collingwood wont be the only team chasing his signature if he really is looking to head back home.

Whilst its not good news for us gotta respect his family needs. Certainly hope that woman of his hasnt been in his bloody ear pestering him to go home.

Anyway...Sydeny's preferred clubs to deal with are Saints/Pies/Geelong/Adelaide...we just seem to find it easier to deal with them.

If Jolly specifically wants to switch then it makes it easy..and if the pies are very interested the chances are it'll get done.

Aint easy to secure proven quality non-injury prone ruckmen in their prime tho....they make an immediate difference and command a premium.

Despite what would ordinarily be a high price i cant imagine Syd would complicate things or get in his way...and something will likely be done for maybe a mid 1st rnder or maybe late 1st rnder + player. If the pies specifically want him they are in the box seat by expressing interest early.

Assuming of course he actually DOES want to move.

Hawthorn and Collingwood would be nuts to not throw everything but the kitchen sink at him to get him.

Collingwoods ruckman really got exposed against St Kilda and Geelong, Jolly would make a MAJOR difference to them.
