Very composed- reminded me of Guthrie's, Thurlow's, Bews' entry into AFL - seems to me that the club get these boys with just the right amount of confidence before they play them. They aren't cocky but they just confident with the ball that they seem to slot in seamlessly.

Yep, should stay in.

Would like to see Smedts in for Gregson, has been great for a first year but his form has tapered over the last 4 games which isn't surprising. Let him play out the year in the VFL unless he hits a purple patch there and let him reload for his second season. We need to see what Smedts has to offer now.
I thought Gregson was great early - did some lovely things in the forward half.

So did I but he has seemed to fade out of games a lot recently, maybe a sign he's tiring a bit in his first year. Plus, I see he was replaced by Stokes with a foot injury?

Maybe straight swap with Selwood. Personally, I'd like to see Gregson, Stokes out and Selwood, Smedts in.

He's probably worth a couple of goals per game to us, even going at 75%.
If he's fading though, yeah, give him a bit of a rest. I'm sure he wouldn't be happy being demoted to the twos, though :(

When your getting 10-15 possessions from the younger brigade playing out a whole game I can't see why those spots can't be rotated a bit better. Gregson, Lang ect all show promise but I'd love to see Janson, Gore or Cocky given a bit of a run as well. 10 touches shouldn't hold your spot in the side. I know there's defensive pressure ect but I'd rather see someone come in and maybe have 20 touches and make the spot their own.

The flip side is that Lang or Gregson could go back and play a few dominant games in the VFL which would only improve them in the long run.

Cripps was out of his depth last year big time but has really turned it around. A few senior games last season made him work out his deficiencies pretty quickly. That's why a couple of games this season into Jansen and Gore especially may pay back big time over the pre season.

All down to the role they play IMO.
Jansen hasn't really deserved a game at this stage, his form is "ok" but it is more his size and potential that people rave about (rightly so, he'll be a gem), Gore is an inside mid, not a forward flanker.
Cocky is coming back from injury and needs consistent games, we probably wont see him again this year, he needs continuity of games and minutes.

Great post Rosso - couldn't agree more.
Lang and Gregson are keepers but no doubt they will be feeling it at 2/3 of the way through their first full seasons
It's the same reason I'd play Kolo for the balance of the season , do the apprenticeship with 10 or so games in 2015 and come back much better prepared in 2016
