My personal view of not trading/drafting specialist small forwards aside, and that small forward is the easily the most over rated position in our game.

After watching how we deal at the trade table over the last 20 years there is no chance we would be straight swapping a KPP (pears) for a small forward.
We did go for the 'x factor forward' a couple of years back with not much success but ye, probably right , we do love our talls. FWIW I would not be against trading a KPP of Pears quality for a small forward, as long as that small forward was actually good, which Milera isn't.

Like you watching Justin & Dylan Van Unen play last year ? Where it was evident to everyone that you were making it up ?!?

How was it evident ?
I know he lives in near Frankston and i know he has been at a lot of VFL games as i have seen him there.
Hell he is one of a small number that can say he even went to the AFL rising stars game.

If we intended on Campbell playing such a part, we would have taken him with the first rookie pick we had tbh

It was Jenkins situation that threw a spanner in the works. They got blindsided by Adelaide making him an offer when we only had a spot for him on the rookie list. We had to take a pick for him or simply watch him walk away as we had no main list spots for him.

The only small forwards I would trade for would be ones that have put in match winning performances in a Pre-lim final or a Grand final. But generally speaking I wouldn't want to be hoping a small forward kicks 4 goals to win us a flag, I would be hoping my KPF can kick 4 goals to win us a flag. Good defences shut down small forwards easily.

Have a looks at what Bags has done to small forwards this year and the blokes played 20games

Saw Dylan play at Frankston whilst Justin played at Rye (had them mixed up in two different threads).
Thanks for the vote of confidence old mate 

Glad to have you around occasionally

We have to go back to Kevin Bartlett in 1980 to find a dominant small forward in a finals series. 22 goals in 3 games.

why on earth would we trade gumby/pears for draft picks when we are entering a premiership window
mind = blown.

They may shut them down but they must work hard to do so. It means that we can spread their defense more and make our KPFs more dangerous.

He posted that he had seen plenty of both
He then commented on both their playing abilities and styles, and mixed them up
Then retracted the fact that he said seen one of them

Not sure how they are related but they are, somehow.

Haven't directly seen him, however, have heard plenty around the traps around here. He has massive FIGJAM (should have played at Frankston and he would have been a real chance), he is somewhat lazy, doesn't run and tackle which you would want from all your forwards, and at 192cm, he is somewhat of stick

Justin, Dylan wants it more though

(seen enough of both to warrant my opinion)

Look i know what i know, have seen him at a lot of VFL games and he lives down that way.
He may have made one stuff up but that does not change the fact that he is a regular at the VFL and is one who follows it a lot closer than others.
His contributions on the VFL have been excellent over the past 3 or 4 seasons.
He gets to games, he watches all the Saturday games on the ABC and is on top of all the results, that makes him a good person to comment on the VFL in my book.

I need to back up Yoda in this thread. I have see him a few times at VFL games ( when I am in Melbourne ), and I know that he has strong connections out Frankston way.

The bigger picture is that people who attend VFL games/TAC cup etc, and provide valuable information, are sometimes unfairly criticised.

And Crimson's post is a perfect example.

I can understand why people are reluctant to provide such information.

And I have previously posted on this thread.

Little bit of an update on the priorities still unsigned thus far

Re-sign ASAP

1. Cale Hooker
2. Jake Melksham
3. Stewart Crameri
4. Tom Bellchambers
5. Alex Browne

Not fussed if they don't re-sign (in order of most likely delisting)

1. Travis Colyer
2. Tayte Pears
3. Nick O'Brien
4. Kyle Hardingham
5. Scott Gumbleton
6. Alwyn Davey

Likely gone at year end:
1. David Hille (retired)
2. NLM (retired)
3. Luke Davis (delisted)
4. Jason Winderlich (retired)

I would be open to ANY trades involving ANY of these players (Yes including Crameri, TBC, Gumbleton)

WINDERS RETIRE!!>>???!?!??

The bloke has stuck around and worked his ass off, id also be stunned if he retired, especially since even at 28 looks like he could break out and start smashing it! he'll get a 2 year contract no doubt! He has looked the best he's looked in 5 years in the last few weeks..

I reckon someone would have to push Davey out of the team to retire, and its not looking like that will happen, he is holding his spot in the 22 pretty well at this point!
