How do you rate Pittard compared to Trengove, McKenzie and Hewett? Are they worth a pie floater between the three of them? How many clubs would have swooped on them if they were de-listed!?

Pittard was probably taking up more of the salary cap than those three put together, so it's not a fair comparison.

I'm not upset about the Pittard trade. It's the Hombsch trade I didn't like. So unnecessary.

I agree. Hombsh >>>>>>>>McKenzie. He was happy to stay.

I don't understand the point of keeping McKenzie and Trengove on the main list. They have shown what they can do. For the same price or cheaper you could replace them with Partington and McLarty who would provide the same output in the short term and still have the potential to become decent afl players in the future.

Anyway. Seems like a pointless Toumpas signing for the 'benefit' of the magpies.

When he has the ball, something good happens.

As with all our forwards, he didn't get enough of it. We just need a game plan that allows us to get the ball in there.

I still don't think we are using him right, he isn't a Key forward.

With Lycett coming in we'll have Dixon, one of Lycett and Ryder up forward and Hopefully Marshall steps up and has a break out year. This way we can move Watts up the ground in more a Tom Lynch (ADL) role, and also use him on a Wing. He should be linking up between defence and forward and getting given the ball on the outside to deliver to targets up the ground.

THERE is genuinely tempting talent on this year's AFL delisted free agent market.

They are the types that could plug a hole for a contender or offer much-needed depth for those teams in the lower reaches of the ladder.

Jarryd Lyons (Brisbane), Tommy Sheridan (Greater Western Sydney) and Darren Minchington (Hawthorn) have already found new clubs this week as delisted free agents.

AFL.com.au has taken a look at the other players (in alphabetical order) that might pique the most interest as they hope for a second – or even third – chance at the elite level:

Have no idea how Mav Weller is sitting as a DFA right now.

Lyons is ridiculous too, Brisbane got an absolute steal there.

I'd give Tomas Bugg some consideration, mainly because after losing Polec and Wingard we are lacking a little bit in the 'pest/campaigner' department.

The AFL article also mentions him as having played a defensive-forward role recently in his career. Could be that Monfries replacement we've been sorely lacking for a few years.

I literally dream of the day when we use all ( or in fact any) of our players right.

Hombsch was terrible this year. The club did the right thing by him and found him a new home where he might still be best 22. I think Trengove actually showed more in his games, and definitely did at SANFL level. McKenzie was injured the whole time so hard to gauge.

If there were doubts about Hombsch, they were confirmed in the 2nd showdown this year. Sad to watch really.

What has Watts done that makes him more valuable than Burton?
Watts is a nothing footballer. He should be playing netball imo.
150 odd games at AFL level
Junior all Australian
He is such a nothing player that he was ( rightly or wrongly) the no 1 draft pick
Also been top 10 b and f a few times for Demons
IMO the better coaching and positioning will bring out the best from him
But you say a nothing footballer.
Is this from your observations or just repeating a popular ‘he’s soft’ mantra you have read similar to
‘Kick the bloody ball’ at a game.

Seems to have achieved a lot for a “nothing footballer”

What’s Burton done or got that makes him more valuable than Watts?
Serious question

FYI: I don't mind Watts, I think he has a place in our side. However, Burton has made the 22 Under 22 side, came runner up in the rising star (and arguably would have been a deserved winner) and is still 21 years old. Watts is 27 and hasn't achieved any accolades since before he was drafted. Burton has arguably matched him on accolades and very obviously has quite the upward trajectory.

To be quite frank as well, the recent drama surrounding Watts is a really shitty look on his personality which whether we like it or not, is a detriment to our club's perceived culture. As much as I think the whole swimming, **** and drugs aspect is grouse, and I wish it was the only thing he did as I'd defend him to the ends of the earth for it, cheating on your partner is a really shit act and considering how much bad news we've had in the past year or two, we really didn't need it.

Not dreaming... he won't be a star... if he had a bit of mongrel... it would be different... but he hasn't so that's not gonna happen...

If I did a team mock up for round 1... he would struggle to make my team...

He should shave his head like Turkey & join the Fordham baldies. There he shall receive the mongrel he lacks.

Yep! Just because hombsch is slightly better than mckenzie, doesn’t mean he should be on our list. He was deplorable this year and looks shot.

He dispenses all of his mongrel in the swimming pool so has nothing left for game day!

Just an observation of his level of ability at Port, played well in the first pre season game, i think he kicked 5 goals then. He has since faded into oblivion. I expect very little from him as he shows very little. i can understand why melb let him go.

We have umpteen players who have produced similar to less than Watts.. you seem to be fixated.
