Player 'Mix up' (Mayne recruitment) and Collingwood's playling list management issues

At this point - anyone. Even Caro would do a better job. Under Buckley Collingwood are trending downwards. They are on a fast track for the wooden spoon.

There are a few assistant coaches out there.

Blake Caracella was from Geelong and recruited to Richmond for this season. I rate him to turn it around if the Tigers let him leave. Would of taken Hardwick's job if he was ever fired.

Stuart Dew is highly rated as well from Sydney but he turned down the Blues, would be a tough task to get him to leave.

Who else could have replaced him? There is no coaches on the market.

Their first choice would be Clarkson, then it went to Ross who is under contract. Mark my words Ross Lyon will be coaching the pies after Freo sack him next season and Bucks gets the sack as well.

Every new coach has to start from somewhere.

Next set of senior coaching candidates could include the following assistant coaches:
Barker
Bassett
Burns
Caracella
Dew
Ratten
Sumich
Tudor

It was interesting to see Eddie last week basically making excuses for why they reappointed Buckley, it was this guys fault and that guys fault but not Buckley's fault that Collingwood have progressively worsened every year under him

Eddie in todays Herald Sun was interviewed by that McFarlane guy who helped write Pies history. One long "well done Ed" article and exciting times for Pies.Ed would be advised to take note of the reader's comments sections- where he cops it from Pies supporters for being a con artist spin merchant,Dictator etc. Why not let Robbo ask the hard questions? Now that McGuire produces most football shows - the question must be asked how much power should one person have? Anyway whilst McGuire is in charge Pies will be crap. His job is for life or until he decides to step aside. By the way who reviewed Ed?

I think this is Eddie's last roll of the dice, as he is so intrinsically linked with Bucks. He will be hoping they secure a finals berth because the most likely outcome after another two years in the wilderness they both fall on their swords.

N u m b e r O n e - Buckley wouldn't say anything publicly that he hadn't already discussed privately with Mayne, so I reckon everybody on this thread should calm the **** down. N u m b e r T w o - Buckley should stop speaking openly & honestly, because it gets him in trouble time & time again. N u m b e r T h r e e - Gary Lyon should learn how to dig deeper. The club probably recruited Mayne because they thought Elliot would never play again (back injury). When Elliot returned in round 4, Mayne was tossed aside, and in the proceeding 18 VFL matches, Mr Mayne has been subjected to constant heckling over the fence. Most commonly 'earn your ******* money you ******* piece of shit', or 'you waste of money, pull your ******* finger out', or 'that goal cost us 1 million dollars you ******* scumbag', or 'go back to Freo, you're ruining our club, piss off', or '**** off Mayne, you worthless garbage', or 'Mayne you're so pathetic I'm going to go home and write about you & Buckley on Big Footy because I like being angry, and my own life is empty'.

Like most places, we have performance reviews at my work too. No doubt the boss has to explain to under-performing staff that they're not really pulling their weight, suggest ways to improve etc. Sometimes the guys discuss what was said amongst themselves. What absolutely doesn't happen is the boss coming out at the end of it and saying "Alright guys, just wanted you all to know that as much as I think Billy's a good bloke and he tries hard and all that, I'd like to make it clear that I think his work's pretty shit and he's only here because there was a bit of a mix up and I had nothing to do with bringing him in." And the reason my boss doesn't come out and say that is because he's not a campaigner. So I agree they probably have (quite reasonably) had a private discussion. What was not at all required was a public one.

As for your Collingwood friends abusing Mayne every weekend, what's your point? Some fans are arseholes? I already knew that. No one on here's bagging Mayne.

I tried typing campaigner but it came out campaigner. I don't think it has the same effect.

Sounds like you should take your complaints about this to the Pies board. It's not opposition supporters attending Collingwood VFL games to tell Mayne he cost "our club" a million bucks

Collingwood continue to rot from within.
It's all excuses and blame shifting.
Nobody has the balls to accept responsibility for their underperformance.

So I'm gonna assume a certain two pies fans from this thread have never actually held a job since they're defending bucks on this.

Why would you say that?

This is a direct evolution from Free Agency that the players (rightly) pushed so hard for.

I dont like that Bucks has said this in public - but it very strongly alludes to all the rumours that Gubby's dirty hands were all over this contract - either against the wishes of the rest of the recruiting team, or by raising the salary/length above what had already been agreed.

But if Players think they can keep pitting club against club to get the best dollar possible without having consequences like this then they are kidding themselves.
There is no possible way that Mayne or his father can think that he is playing anywhere near his contract. This shitty thing is - the main attribute he was brought in for (forward pressure) is not one that requires skill, but is mostly effort - and at that he failed in his few AFL games.

Because they've spent page after page defending Buckley doing it publicly...
You're agreeing with me...

Not buying that it is all Gubby fault. It is just an easy cop blaming somebody no longer at the club. Most people new it was a bad deal when freo got the compo pick aside from the pies hierachy apparently

It's win for the rest of us. Collingwood gets to live in the hermetically sealed bubble believing their list has awesome potential, the coach is talented but unlucky and the future looks bright while the rest of the competition toils away trying to fix their own glaring weaknesses.
