Pick 2:

Barlow, Petracca, Parish, Lobb @ F3/4

Also:

Nic Nat v Longer @ R2

Barlow Lobb

Nic Nat, even if he isn't playing, i'd still pick Nic over Longer.

So many ?????? Over Nic Nat ..... can’t see how anyone can pick him at R2 with any confidence

Barlow and lobb

Longer only coz I don't trust Nic Nat to play. Plus I have sneaky feeling Billy might breakout this year
I have a sneaky feeling youve been on the Billys

I like it.

I personally don’t rate Zac Smith but I still like it.
Games with Stanley = 87 ave (HS 133, LS 44, 3 100s)
Games without Stanley = 95 ave (HS 136, LS 37 6 100s)

last 8 games averaged 101.75 (5 100s - 87, 80 and 71 other 3 scores) including 3 finals
last 5 H&A games averaged 107.6 (4 100s and an 80)

I was implying that Longer is a garbage truck, not that NN is a good pick.

Thoughts on Goldy ? ..... one last SC season in him, or will NM allocate more min to Preuss .... in which case Goldy will turn to shit

Or will Goldy be trying to fend off an end of 2018 trade .... or try and up the disirability and contract value from another club ?

He's their future, will get games into him as he improves his tank. I miss 2015 Goldy, that was a glorious year.

Had him last year and it was pretty bad.
Pruess is good, and Goldy is old. Surely they'll be looking to get more miles into Pruess.
Goldy is still an OK player but not SC relevant imo.
Wouldn't even be worth much on the trade table anymore I'd think.

Lycett and Billings

Versus

Christensen and Grundy

In essence
Cheap R2 or Cheap F4
The cheap F4 .... Christensen & Grundy

With the ruck you have no loophole options you have with forwards ..... if Lycett gets injured ( distinct possibility ) or doesn’t perform or get a gig ..... you “probably” won’t have an R3 backup , you’ll waste a trade, but what’s more .... you have to replace a $277k Ruck ....you’ll need $300k sitting in your emergency kitty for this event

I don't really see it with Billy. He definitely improved out of sight last year and had a super second half to the year but I still feel he has limitations in his game and ability that will always consign him to that tier below the elite. Not that sort of detriment that will impede his midfield to succeed with him as a ruck but the sort that makes him unappealing as a SC choice.

I can't get excited about Lycett. Seriously, even if Nic Nat doesn't make it to be available for round 1 I just can't see how they'd play him over Nic Nat if he were available. Let's see that takes 3 rounds, just how good does his form have to be to justify Nic Nat not coming into the team? I'll keep an eye on Lycett in the NAB but until then I'd prefer Bundy and Grundy.

I see what you're saying and it is fair enough. in fact, it would take a very brave SCer to pick him

But

If I put my RW&B coloured glasses on for a minute. Towards the end of last year he finally came to the realisation that he was our #1 ruckman. His confidence grew and with it grew his possession count and have a look at his scores for the last 6 weeks. He has always been a good tap ruckman and as his possession count grows so will his SC scores

He comes into this year in the best physical shape of his life. He turns 25 this year and has played 60 games. Right in the wheelhouse for a ruck to breakout

He knows he is the #1 and more importantly he believes it.

He only has to lift his possessions from feck all to about 10 or 12 a game and he rockets into 100+ a week coz he will always score from hit outs.

That's what I'm trying to tell myself anyway..... :D

Yeah, it's reasonable arguments. He's a dynamite tap ruckman so he'll always have those HTAs, I just don't see him being able to up his possessions significantly and he's never really shown he's a marker or significant impact player around the ground. Virtually useless up forward too.
I might just be bitter that he ditched us though, mate. Will keep an eye on him, 25 is about the time a ruck usually breaks out.

Meh...Sicily becauze of his DPP

+1

Would be nice to be sure Sicily won't lose his shit when given some treatment but I still have him of the 2 of them for now

He is highly rated by our coaching staff and will get the gig due his promising form (unable to get on the park consistently ) in recent years.
Zero chance they'll play Lycett and Vardy over Nic and Lycett if fit.
