Give him the 3 weeks. Too many hamstrings are repeat injuries due to rushing back. They feel good at training, get in a match situation and real fatigue and twang.

I'd prefer him back round 12 Freo than risk him against Melbourne, though he would be handy going head to head with Moloney.

As much as I hate to see him out, I think it is good in terms of seeing where out midfield is really at. No Watson, no Hocking... time for Howlett, Lonergan, Myers (please put him in there) to stand up, Gus can pinch hit to give these guys a chop out.

Who tags, McVeigh or Slattery (or someone else)?

Put lonergan in the guts with howlett. I really don't want to see prism all back in the side

Panic stations everyone!!

Seriously though, Myers, Lonergan and Howlett will have to do it all, with NLM in there to help out. Stanton in will help them out too.

Davey will have to come into the forward line to release Jetta and Zaharakis into the mids more often.

Really?

Obviously a big loss but he can be covered.

By all reports Davey doesn't deserve a recall. Either Dyson will come in to do a job down back with McVeigh pushing into the midfield, or Prismall as a straight swap for Jobe.

**** my brownlow bet.
**** this week vs Richmond.
**** the week after the bye if he misses.

But seriously, **** me, we're going to be missing Watson, Hurley, Hocking and Slattery, on top of Pears, Winderlich, and Dempsey. We are in some serious trouble injury wise.

Dont like our record of taking advantage of having key players out of the opposition side. We seem to get our hopes up to have them dashed.

Watson seems to have been a player that flourished under Knights. Sheedy apparently didnt really rate him.

It does really suck all these injuries but it sounds like most of the players currently unavailable aren't too far away. Even guys like Pears/Gumbleton/Darcy/Long (our perenially injured quartet) are getting closer to Bendigo again. So in about 6 weeks or so we should have recovered most of our list. We should still be able to have a chance against Richmond but it won't be easy. Melbourne have as many injuries as we do so its not really a bad draw for the next few weeks.

I'd be surprised if Watson/Slattery were available for Melbourne, but they should be right for the week after. Its a shame about Hocking as well. I think we have some decent depth players to come in but unfortunately none of them are really inside midfielders in the mould of either Watson/Hocking to give us that extra grunt. Stanton will be handy, Colyer should get a full game next week and Dyson has been putting his hand up for a game for weeks now. Its annoying to lose Slattery as well who would be a perfect matchup for Jake King. Ah well.

You mean two guys who are already playing midfield?

Why is every post you make dripping with sarcasm and ignorant bullshit? Are you trying to prove that you're a complete knob-end? Because if you are, you're succeeding every time you hit "submit reply."

Obviously, the suggestion we're making as that those two (Lonergan and Howlett) will get the chance to spend even more time in the middle contesting the centre clearances. Two hard nuts who are good at getting in and under and winning the hard ball. In case you hadn't noticed, we're going to need that now that Watson and Hocking are gone.

Perhaps you'd prefer Stanton, Davey, and Reimers in the middle...?

As for "already playing in the midfield", you just reveal how little you truly understand about how the game is played these days. 90% of players these days play "in the midfield."

For the record.
Jobe Watson was one of 2 or 3 players asked specifically by the board how well they could communicate with Sheedy.
Jobe (& Hille) found played VFL a week later.

Watson 3 weeks
Myers 3 weeks
Lonergan SEASON

Hird was just on SEN and confirmed this news. I'm over it.

Going for scans on his fibula today. Could be just bruising/swelling, or it could be a crack which would be 6 weeks (by my calculations that means back in contention for a hypothetical elimination final).

:(

I can handle the loss last night, but this is such extremely disappointing news if he is sidelined with this for the rest of the season.

Just as he was getting back into the scheme of things as well, has been pretty impressive the last few weeks. Totally irreplaceable.
