Tony Modra

That's a bit rough. He kicked 70-odd in 1999, 50 odd in 2000 and was injured for the bulk of 2001 (when we were flogged every week anyway). All this from delivery that could best be described as comical whilst having to share a forward line with Clive.

Edit: That's fair enough describing it the way you did in your following post. Injuries and that scumbag cheat Ashley McIntosh certainly teamed up to knock him back a bit. Was far from terrible though.

He kicked 440 from 118 at Adelaide average of 3.7. Thats when he was at his peak.

Maybe it is a bit rough to say he lost it completely, but he definitely dropped off a fair way from his best. He was a fantastic player to watch.

Actually I withdraw my Tony Modra comment:eek:

Jared Brennan? Stellar debut game, then struggled for a few years afterwards. Has shown glimpses of his talent more consistently in the last couple of months.

From Hawthorn, Stevie Greene. Looked a gun when he burst on to the scene in 2001, and we had high hopes for him given his pedigree. Delisted by Clarkson and plays VFL these days.

McPhee.

Had a brilliant 2005 (i think that was the year) and has really struggled to keep it at the same level. Has thrown a few good games together this year, but he's just not the same.

people who say Des Headland have no idea... He recaputured it this season, before getting injured

No idea?

When Headland left Brisbane at the end of 2002 he looked primed to become one of the bona fide superstars of the comp - but in the five seasons since he has been the epitome of Freo's downhill skiing culture of underachievement.

Des plays for Des. Only ever does just enough to justify being selected the next week.

Is it any coincidence that his best ever game in Freo colours came the week immediately after the Selwood tattoo incident - a game in which he was extraordinarily lucky to be playing in thanks to a lenient tribunal?

29 disposals and 3 goals in a rampant display at the home of football because Des finally felt like it and had something to prove.

It is telling that he still hasn't produced a season comparable to that breakout year at the Lions as an exciting 21 year old prospect. Instead of making excuses for him you should ask why we don't see the talent he clearly has more often.

Saverio Rocca. Remember how he started out at Collingwood back in 91-92'ish?

Jarryd Malloy looked really good, then sort of went south.

Che Cuckatoo Collins was another who looked good at Essendon, then kinda disappeared after playing some good games at Port.

Scott Cummings started strong, then had weight issues.

Philip Read started his career at WCE and was looking set to have a very solid 150+ game career. Then he did his knee, and then again..and then hamstrings kept tearing and tearing.

Ronnie Burns had it back at Geelong, and lost it at the Crows

Wowoedin is the obvious one of course.

Trent Croad had it,lost it, and got it back again

Jeff Hogg about the time he moved from Richmond to Fitzroy.

Mark Dwyer was mentioned before, about the time he moved from Fitzroy to St.Kilda. (Not to be confused with the Mark Dwyer who moved from St.Kilda to Fitzroy)

David Grant sometime before he moved from St.Kilda to Melbourne

Jeff Hogg.

Distinctly remember when he was at Tigerland that his coach at the time Kevin Bartlett claimed publicly that Hoggy was our "best full forward and our best full back". One week he'd kick 10 goals and the next he'd be forced up the other end to stop a rampaging Dunstall or Ablett after they'd already clocked up double figures on all of the other Tiger options.

Then he went off to Fitzroy and became rubbish.
