Players Who Promise So Much And Deliver So Little

Kosi... he's really living off hype at the moment. Sadly I doubt he'll be back to his best- the hit really has effected him. Jared Brennan is another- he just seems to do so many things so easily but some of the basics he screws up. Maybe with a bit more maturity he'll become a top player- he's got all the tools to be in the elite bracket.
You have a good point there Crowsarethebest, He's still Hot and cold at times.

Hows about the entire first round of the 2006 draft bar gibbs and selwood....

for what was supposed to be somewhat of a superdraft for talls, not one has delivered on that promise...

talls obviously take longer to develop but u cant tell me there is a superstar in that group....

hansen, guby, thorp, sellar, reiwolt....please

Hansen, Gumbleton and Riewoldt will all be 200+ gamers (bar injury), Thorp is very highly rated and so is Sellar to a lesser extent.

you realise that fisher was taken in the 70's in the draft, so i dont know how he ever promised so much?.....

Because all Carlton supporters thought he was the next Jono Brown.

for me it is nathan thompson. a very good player, don't get me wrong, but early in his career he looked as though he could dominate and become a superstar. never quite got above the ranks of the pretty good, though was always threatening.

another one is jarred brennan. he may yet come good, but I remember several commentators describing his first game as "the most exciting debut ever". hasn't really hit great heights since then...

Brad Miller for mine- perfect size for a CHF. Hasn't taken enough marks consistently and doesn't have enough shots for goal. He'll keep getting chances because we have no-one else.

The obvious ones that spring to mind is Angus Monfries and Brent Stanton - just because i support Essendon and are constantly waiting for them to achieve their potential.
Farren Ray also comes to mind, Danyl Pierce, Brad Fisher, Andrew Walker.

I'm sure i have missed a few, interesting to see who everybody else thinks...

Gus is coming good. He'll get there, he's still young. Just has confidence problems. Got a feeling with him and '09!

I disagree, yes brennan has to be the most hot and cold player in the league but he has hit heights. At his best, he is amazing - it's just his best is only 1 in 4 games.

This should be name the 'Tom Hawkins Underachievement Award'. Tom Williams should be a winner. He was Pick 6 in 2004, he is sandwiched by Picks 5 and 7's premiership winners Franklin and Lewis.

Getting there now. Took a while though.

Had a very consistent year after being moved into the midfield. Another pre-season focusing on his endurance and he will be there.

Colin Sylvia from my own club. I also think Aaron Davey hasn't really delivered on the talent he has so far.

From other clubs, I think Varcoe from Geelong is capable of so, so much more than his output has been so far.
