Thanks for the responses guys. The thing about GT 7 that put me off is the “always online” element to it. It’s a SP game but you need to be logged into the network to save your progress. Probably a bit of a lame reason not to buy a game but FH5 sounds like it would be just as fun.

I think FH is always online too. It's sort of like an MMO in that there are other people driving around but they're ghosts that can't touch you. I'm not sure if you can play offline tbh.

I think the biggest story of this generation will be XBOX games releasing on PS5. Crazy.

They're going to have to do something more exciting for me to get hyped/take note. I'll give it to them making Indy multi platform..... but Forza Horizon ?? Actually a lot of the MS Xbox "exclusives" do nothing for me. Everyone knows that I play multiplatform games on EVERY platform lol.

Eventually games like Halo and Gears of war will be on PS which is just crazy, and i seriously hope they don't 'reboot' those franchises just because they will release them on the PS console.

I played those on Gamepass on PC. Really good games and two of Microsoft’s biggest series. It would be so weird seeing them on a PlayStation console.

I dunno if Halo will be that much of a big hit on PS either, Halo was huge from 2001-2010, but since Bungie left, it hasn't been the big hitter it use to be. Halo 4 was good, 5 was a disaster, Infinite was a step in the right direction but still fell short imo and now i'm not sure what their plans are.

Never say never, they're all crashing to the same middle as it is that it's really only Nintendo with the "difference" to say focus on game and DGAF about console and things to attach to it. so Sony and MS coming to an agreement for 'release on both?" is far more likely moving forward.

So a Halo reboot instance might indeed be on the cards as a refresh of it.

I agree though with the lack of popularity on PS, I always saw it as Xbox was your FPS, sandbox, sim related games and PS was more your RPG, Platformer, and rando IP that isn't say "kid friendly" Nintendo related. So Halo on PS would be much like Red Faction and have a core group and do SFA otherwise really.

Gears would do much much better as it falls in that niche as a third person instance that'd do well on PS.

Yeah I heard similar, though they were swapping who was doing what Sony with MS or MS with Sony and either way Nintendo go "Japan is fine, you do you" and lol back to court. Can imagine Sony would be paygating some things if MS was just going to "open it up" as a PC in essence.

The good thing about FH as well I think is the level of possible customisation and tuning should also appeal to enthusiasts as well as nubs like me who use a racing line and other cars to corner.

Next month is the 20th anniversary of the series. I was actually waiting for something like the PS2 games being emulated over in March but yeah, rumours of a remaster/remake have persisted for a long time and now would be the perfect time for it.
