Backline for the Chargers, high level athletics background
I couldn’t recall how I new the name (Philactides ) but just realised he was the one that won the chargers best first year player last year as a 16 yr old. I just did a search and looks like he’s very quick winning multiple state and national medals for 100m & hurdles even had a high global athletics ranking.

Any thoughts on Mackinley Miller? Liked his movement out of halfback, half reminded me of Sicily, CJ, Scrimshaw, and presumably numerous other half-backs that play for Hawthorn. Could he get picked up in the MSD?
I'm holding off on calling him a MSD chance, he looked superb against Calder but that's the first time he's really stood out in any of my viewings of the GWS Academy over the last few years, if he can do it consistently then it'll help, but it's hard with limited exposure for Northern state kids

Only fully watched Calder Cannons v Sandringham Dragons this week, as usual notes on Rookieme Central on Tuesday there. From the snippets of the other games I saw there were plenty of notable players; Jhye Clark, Olivier Northam, Darcy Edmends, Cooper Harvey, Elijah Tsatas, Angus Curry, Hudson O'Keeffe, Matthew Jefferson, Jack O'Sullivan, Mitch Szybkowski, Jaxon Binns, Kai Windsor, Nick Watson and Jaspa Fletcher. A lot of these guys are gonna be top 30 picks I imagine so it's no surprise to see them standing out, Jefferson especially after the weather he played in last week really took his opportunities well in better weather

Lack of Alwyn Davey Jr is a little odd here sir

Apparently Carlos Egan was good for Calder?

Also watched Westies v Central Districts, Kobe Ryan and Harry Barnett continued to do their thing but the main guy drawing eyes atm is Tom Scully. Naturally as an athletic 200+ cm forward he's going to draw attention regardless of his goal output, with 13 (I think) in the last two weeks I've noticed he's been getting discussed a lot. Scully's strengths are his leading, marking and obviously this year he's been dead eye dick in front of goal, but I'm not super convinced on him as prospect yet, can give up very easily if he doesn't hold a mark, generally won't follow up at ground level or apply defensive pressure and can pick and choose when he wants to lead. For me, he needs to have a few decent Champs showings to enter the discussion of the top end, especially with Lemmey being so impressive from further out, or hopefully he gets a senior call up (Unlikely, but it's nice to dream) and can show a bit at SANFL level

Watched most of the Northern vs Oakleigh game.
For Northern; Harvey worked hard all day. Got involved in a few link plays and generally finished of with good disposal. Edmends didn’t stop running all day on the wing, giving his team an option…also used the ball well by foot.
For Oakleigh; Curry was great in the middle, laying tackles and extracting the ball to give his side first use. He had a real hunger for the contest.
Tsatas played mainly on the wing and was great. He worked hard all day and got involved in several passages. He lead the disposal count for both teams on the day. Used the ball well by hand and foot and also had a run through the middle.
O’Keefe was dominant in the ruck, often palming the ball to his teammates.
Down back, Grusweski controlled things well and took some strong marks.
Up forward, it was good to see Jefferson back to form. He took some great contested marks, presented well and kicked 2 goals. He looked like he had that hunger back…definitely wasn’t suited to the wet conditions last week. Voulanas was busy all day, harassing the opposition and setting up his team mates and presenting as an option…took several contested marks and also showed his speed at times. O’Sullivan was great playing high…he lead and presented well and capped of his good work with 2 goals..he also had stints in the middle and was as very active around the stoppages.

O'Sullivan is one of my favourites this draft so glad others are seeing what I'm seeing, hopefully can continue to develop his small forward craft and find more avenues to goal

Gotta watch Murray v Gippy tonight, but the power and speed is accurate, pretty dead eye from set shots as well. From last year i wanted to see if he had more avenues to goal rather than just marking so will be looking for that personally
Early call, will he get drafted?

Early call, will he get drafted?
I'd be surprised if he didn't at this stage, I'm just not certain where he'd be placed in the draft. Has a lot of positives and transferable traits particularly as a medium forward, as mentioned the power and set shot accuracy is a real strength, but he gets those set shots with good leading patterns and smart bodywork in contests, I just wonder whether he's a high end pick as 'just' a forward, it's a pretty unappreciated role when you're not tall, a specialist small or have that midfield potential that everyone loves.

Early signs are showing that Oakleigh are the side to beat with some real top end talent. Anyone want to make an early call and predict how many and which Chargers will get drafted this year

Jayden Davis just keeps kicking bags of snags playing forward and can play on ball.

Watched any of his games.

Oh my yes, admittedly when watching Glenelg I've had my eye on others like Ryan and Moir so I can't say I've got too much on Davis yet (intend to watch replays more intently when NAB League eases up a bit). He's in the pile to watch for along with Dowling and both Verrall's. What should I be expecting

A deadeye dick goal kicker, solid bodied, highly skilled all round game, odds on to be state rep at this year's Nationals.

Here's some tasters..

What's Cooper Harvey's draft range?
