Polak 'bullied' into interview

the paper at least deserves a right of reply before we hang the bastards!

Why? That paper wouldn't wait for a reply to hang a person. Its what they do, whip up a frenzy based on not very much and when they get caught out publish a paragraph on page 23 apologising for getting the story wrong.

That paper does deserve a right of reply.

And thats the point.WE the club could have dragged Polly into a press conference. The club made sure their point was getting through, that due to his condition he is unable to be interviewed. We were never going to do it.It was done to put pressure on the H/S.

BUT they said in the media they would do it and could do it.
Therefore they had no qualms about threatening to do it to Polak.

IF as they say he can't. they should have said so from the start. Would have made the HUn look real bad.

is he in any sort of a state to be running around and having a kick at training then?

On the information available, the journo did nothing wrong. He identified himself, and was granted an interview. I notice his girlfriend seemed to think the interview was okay as she mistakenly believed journo was from the club website. she even posed for photos. The journo may well have been warned off by club officials etc, but the track record of club officials and their duplicitous dealing with the press would give him good reason to wonder about their sincerity. As others have noted, they threatened to wheel him out in a press conference to scupper the shun.
You say the Journo did nothing wrong. Then with the highlighted stuff you more or less write something that points to the journo doing everything bar anything right.

It seems the club was prepared to and thought Polak could participate in a media conference today. So the club yesterday would have had no qualms about him being interviewed by someone of their valition.
Get a clue, and a dictionary. Blind Freddy could see that the club was applying the blowtorch. Listen to what Polak's GF said : http://media.theage.com.au/?rid=40893 . You might change your mind, but I doubt it somehow.

How convenient the bloke doesn't remember the interview, what was said or any photography. Yet remembers the time frame of when the approach was made, and the 2nd.

The sun can now use the defense he agree to the interview, just doesn't remember doing so...

Brain injuries take on various forms. Most likely he is suffering from short term memory loss. It is also most likely that what he has of his short term memory is fragmented, that would be why he can't remember all the specifics. It's like his brain is a filing cabinet where somebody has come through and thrown the contents up into the air. The task for his brain is to try and re-develop pathways for correct time-lines and until that happens, short-term memory is particularly erratic.

Big deal !!
Most of the Vic public don't mind what the media print or what tactic is used as long as it does not involve a Vic club.

No great outcry when the media went into overdrive when Braun was accused of using PED's from some ignorant brain dead twit.
In fact the spoon fed Victorian public lapped it up..

No sympathy. The Herald Sun reflects the standard of the readers who buy the paper...

Could he drive a car (safely to himself and others) in that condition?

It's heartening to think that Polak hooked up with model Alyce Oksuz because of her brains, sophistication and discerning character, and not just because of her big ta tas.

Kudos Graham :thumbsu:

The club threatened to hold a press conference with Polak today to scupper the paper's exclusive, but that was withdrawn because of doctors' advice that Polak was not ready to participate in interviews.

I have no doubt this is the case but again playing devil's advocate, perhaps because these things are being reported loosely by the Age in this case ....

The club threatened to hold a press conference with Polak but the doctor said no ... correct so far?

We have been told that the journo ignored doctor's advice that Polak could not give interviews prior to this.

So why did the Tigers needs doctor's advice to not hold a press conference, when they already knew he couldn't participate?

Until the doctor intervened, the Tigers were going to hold a press conference with Polak being interviewed to say how bad the journo was for interviewing Polak contrary to doctor's advice.

It either doesn't make a lot of sense or the Age have ballsed this one up.

imo polak gave the interview of his own free will

the "bullying" was done by richmond, furious that a player should talk to the media without its permission.

did you listen to the radio interview a few posts back?

If you did and still think this then you are a richard cranium.

If you haven't then perhaps you should.

Brilliant deduction, undoubtedly arrived at by weighing up all the available information and your in-depth knowledge of severe brain trauma.

I know enough about it that he shouldn't be running around kicking the football if it is as bad as they are making out. why, a knock on the head could kill him.

richmond is using it as a convenient excuse. the real issue here is about their control over what information goes out of the club.

If your earlier posts didn't, this pretty much sums up your level of knowledge on the matter. Take a little time to read the plentiful information that's available, and listen to the interview FFS.

Sainterz you take the prize for being King d**k of the year. Before you go spouting off about what Polak should and shouldnt be doing, do a little research and try and look like you have an ounce of intelligence.
Brain injuries like his cause memory loss, and he cant choose what he wants to remember. He may remember parts of the interview one day and nothing the next and then other parts at another time. now I know i'm not as clever as you but I'm just guessing that the "training" he is doing probably doesnt involve physical contact.
For all you beautiful uninformed people out there, people recovering from this type of injury know what they are doing at the time, in regards to driving, turning off stoves etc (depending on there recovery stage) and can hold a perfectly normal conversation, ask them the next day or hours later and they may have forgotten.
The facts are....the media were ALL told he was not to be interviewed
.... the choice of attire by the cameraman was to confuse him
.... they did not approach family/club or doctors to get the OK
So what they did was WRONG!
So all of you bitter little Richmond haters, take your hatred to another
thread where you wont look like such morons

Just one question...is it true that he has done light training back at the club yet?? What about driving??
If he is doing either of this things then the Tigers unfortunately have a leg to stand on! There are a few inconsistencies that need to be cleared up before any real judgement can be made however with the information so far it doesnt look good but again it is only the Age seemingly putting the boot in so need to take anything they say with a grain of salt.

Just what part dont you get, for god sake go and do some research!
I have a family member going through the same thing, theres your physical and your mental.... i dont know if Graham is driving, he has to pass a test for that, and I dont know what stage he is up to....he will know what he is doing at the time, it is later on that he will have memory lapses....maybe.
He can do light training, he can do what you or I can, its just his short term memory thats the problem
I agree about the Age, its probably just a cheap shot at the HUN, bit like ACA V TT, but the fact of the matter is The HUN went about it the wrong way.

Underhand always = ethically disgraceful does it not? No matter what the story.

No, sometimes you have to dance with the devil to get the story. So if somebody spends a load of cash flaterring a gangster in order to get them talking and expose police corruption say, then I'm fine with that. Sometimes two wrongs does make a right.

But doing this to fool a bloke who plays footy for a living and got hit by a tram? Pathetic.
