So when you are proven wrong or shown to be a smart arse with facts, this is how you react. Well done.
Are you serious? I can’t help it if you have no sense of humour. It was a joke, because you know, you’re a banker.

But then again your sense of humour includes taking away voting rights for seniors, that’s if it was a joke and we know it wasn’t.

Lack of diversity in career for those in politics is an issue across the board unfortunately.

Indeed, except Albanese is an extreme case.

He makes a politician who has worked a couple of years in a commercial law firm or even as a union official seem to have had a diverse career.

Here's how austerity has helped Greece, plus several examples of how a mainstream body that follows mainstream economics gets their forecasting wrong. A key part of mainstream economics is a equilibrium condition, the economy will always return to a nice place if you just set interest rates right, have incentives right, have a balanced budget and keep inflation under control. Now as stupid examples like this pile up they are *finally* starting to consider that they might have it wrong.

It would appear "unity" within the ALP MP's has gone by the wayside with the unexpected election result and Shorten's stand down.

Labor MPs 'fuming' as Jim Chalmers told to clear the way for Albanese or face payback

A rising star threatening to derail Anthony Albanese's rise to the Labor leadership following Saturday's disastrous election result has been warned to back down or face a massive backlash by factional forces.
Jim Chalmers, the Queensland-based finance spokesman, has also been attacked by one of the country's top union officials as a "blow-in" who should let Mr Albanese into the top job.
acating the field 29 hours after announcing his tilt, shadow treasurer Chris Bowen also issued a stern warning on Wednesday that the next Labor leader must confront the party's problem with religious voters who no longer felt the party represented them.
His withdrawal paved the way for Mr Albanese to be appointed as leader without a ballot, possibly with Mr Chalmers as his deputy.

But Mr Chalmers was considering his options on Wednesday night after receiving strong encouragement - especially from Victorians - to contest Mr Albanese for the leadership.
"Labor needs to rebuild, refresh and renew and I want to play a prominent role in that. What role is to be determined," he said. Victorian MPs who are furious at what they see as a "deal" stitched up in NSW have urged Mr Chalmers to contest the ballot, even though his chances of succeeding are slim. Some believe the party would face "six years in opposition" under Mr Albanese and describe him as too "old and tired" to win.
Mr Chalmers, 41, would position himself as a fresh face who can repair the damage Labor suffered in his home state at the weekend.
But many senior Labor figures are "fuming" at his conduct this week after he floated himself as a leadership contender on the ABC's Q&A program on Monday night.

An MP in the NSW Right said Mr Chalmers had "massively overestimated the level of support he has" and the powerful faction would actively campaign against him if he nominated for the leadership position.

I don't see what the big deal is.

If Chalmers wants to run, let him... even if he does get defeated by Albo.

It's healthy to have competition.

I don't see why the opponents need to be told to drop out before the vote... otherwise why even bother with the vote.

Also, as a leader you are stupid to exclude quality from your front bench because they are your best competition... unless you are an Abbott who us just full on destructive.

Can you now see why they lost?

I have a number of ideas about why Labor lost, and none of them involve amusing, apocryphal anecdotes about our Prime Minister shitting himself at a fast food restaurant after his favourite footy team lost.

Also, i wouldn't mind Chalmers getting the Deputyship; i've never heard of him, but would like the opportunity to call him SuperNintendo.
It would be a smart move to give the best young candidate from the Right the deputy, when the leader is from the left.

Because too many of the public disliked Shorten.

It was the main factor.

They even preferred a PM who speaks to us like we are in primary school...

Otherwise the Right will do nothing but snipe and undermine until they lose the next election

I used to know lots of people in the Labor right and i often thought of them as "evil"

Huh? We must be on 2 different waive lengths, I’m referring to Shorten trying to explain the cost of his climate policy as someone giving up eating 10 Big Macs a day.

What are you talking about?

Yes, it appears two stories - one about 10 Big Macs, and one about Engadine MacDonalds, merged to become the thread title:

I won't claim it's a reputable news source, but the rumour is there
