Strongest: Carlton 1995, Essendon 2000, Brisbane 01, 02, 03. Geelong 2007, 2009, 2011, Collingwood 2010, Hawthorn 13,14,15.

The rest of them .............. hmmm.

Easily this Richmond team
The luckiest sporting team in history.
If that thug Cotchin hadn't whacked Shiel his team would've lost.
Essendons 2000 or Brisbane 2001-3 would beat them by twenty goals.
Rance would poo himself playing on a decent player and Martin wouldn't be able to "don't argue" his opposition.

Very salty.

Anyone who selected the Brisbane three peat, Hawthorn three peat or Geelong 07-11 teams in the poll are deadset mouth breathers.

Yet still better than every single Essendon team after 2000 even your drugged up teams can't compare

Kidding yourself. Essendons 2000 side would get belted today.

They shit the bed when they came up against the Dog's flood in 2000. Would be clueless against modern day zones.

Says everything about the weak ****ers below, losers, winners are grinners and the rest of us get bent over.

Crowbots 97-98 flags easily the weakest, but put in a better performance than the Power ranger crows no doubt. Lets hope the No show Crows don't ruin another grandfinal.

You realize the guy who wrote that article Jai Bednall is from Adelaide and a crows supporter now living in Sydney ... as the article has the bias of a supporter it has as little credibility as one I might write.

If one side wins or destroys another side in a grand final it is due to a combination of skills, athleticism and tactics. If you want to put down Richmond just because they are faster and more aggressive than any of the other premiership winners over that period you are missing the point. Better! that is what Richmond was on Saturday, and it did not matter how pretty or skillful or tall or talented Adelaide were on paper they were destroyed by a tougher faster team which never let Adelaide use any of those superior skills. Get over it and don't go fishing for biased news articles to justify an opinion.

Other teams better get good at pressure because if they don't Richmond will do it again and again.

Talking about how teams with modern gameplans would destroy teams of previous decades misses the point of the question.

If the squiggle is anything to go by, the correct answer is Essendon 1993, followed by Geelong 2009 and North Melbourne 1999. However, it also says Collingwood 1990 is the strongest...

The pies in 1990 were very poor. A good run mid season got them into finals contention, and they avoided the Hawks (who belted them two weeks out from finals). They got incredibly lucky against the Eagles in the Qualifying final, and ran into a Bombers outfit stale from three weeks of no footy in the Semi.

They won the flag with no full forward and had to rely on a forward pocket (Daicos) playing out of his skin for the year, almost kicking a ton.

Any other year, scraping into finals and going out in one would have seemed about right for them.

We were lucky.

So well over 60% of voters think the weakest premiership team was either 2016 or 2017.
lol. Maybe the AFL should put a rider on 2016/2017 stating *only worth half a flag as Big Salty Footy don't rate these teams**
Every team on this poll is equal no.1 as they are all premiership teams.

I'm no Essendon fan but the fact 3 people voted Essendon 2000 means this poll is bollocks. Good intentions, but some morons have trolled it. Essendon 2000 hands down the strongest premiership side in a single year in history. Hands down.

Agreed.

But the overwhelming numbers for 2016 and 2017 are staggering.

I have no doubt that the 15 votes for Port 2004 were mostly Crows fans. That was a very strong unit in my opinion.

A strong enough unit I voted Williams as the worst premiership coach post 2000 in another thread. Baffling that team only won one.

Absolutely staggering that people are selecting the most recent sides who are fresh in the memory, what a shock. Every second thread seems to be bitter people trying to devalue recent premiers.

Sorry we should have more respect for the team who followed up their premiership by missing the finals.
