This is my thinking now too. He's also a tough, no nonsense hombre with a real will to improve. Pick 10 will be between Scharenberg, Bontempelli and Freeman, in no particular order, whichever is available.

Perhaps. I can see us going for Mcarthy with pick 10. Would love him to come to us. Big mark and an accurate kick..Considered the best forward behind Boyd.

Seems like we are linked to everyone holding our cards very close to our chest.

A lot of research would need to be done to take McCarthy inside the top 10 considering his athleticism couldn't be measured due to his injury and cricket commitments.

I still feel that we are a bit slow leg speed wise through the middle and also not as sharp as we should be by foot. We have the chance to pick up some smart, quick mids who are good kicks this draft. I'd like to see us take this path.

Lions could be pulling one over us, but if we take scharenburg at 6, lions take McCarthy at 7 (unless it is a ploy to get bont at 7) we could have a choice of bont, aish, Lennon, Salem, freeman at 10 depending on Melbourne.

However, I have a gut feel that bont or scharenburg may go to GWS at 2 given the amount of midfielders they have already acquired. Shaw teaching scharenburg would be something that GWS may like.

Just so you know, the Lions have not mentioned anything at all about drafting Mccarthy. All the speculation is from Cal Twomey. I doubt we'll take him at 7, more likely to take a Scharenber/Bontempelli/Sheed

Am I missing something with Freeman? Aside from his pace, he doesn't interest me all that much. Watching him at the champs, he isn't all that composed and his footskills leave a lot to be desired. Would prefer Sheed, who is for my money the nearest to a "sure thing" as youll get in this draft or the more vanilla Salem.

I'd like one of Bontempelli or Scharenburg.. preferably the latter

Given we have 2 picks in the top 10 and NM have committed to McDonald, we shape picks roughly from 6 to 15.
