THE AFL comes to Adelaide this weekend to trial talented female athletes who might consider a career as footballers.

Rather than trialing existing female footballers, the day is designed to introduce players who aren’t yet playing football to Australia’s game.

AFL female football talent coordinator and Melbourne Demons captain Daisy Pearce will coordinate the day and says these trials are an important precursor to the impending national women’s competition.

The initiative will follow on from 10 exhibition games in 2016 that will begin and end with games between Melbourne and the Western Bulldogs with teams representing Fremantle, West Coast, GWS Giants, the Sydney Swans, Northern Territory, Tasmania and South Australian All Stars teams participating.

What I want to know is; why is there a SANFL All Stars, while Sydney & GWS, plus Fremantle and West Coast can have their own teams in 2016??

Smells of SANFL getting their grubby fingers involved again o_O

"South Australian All Stars"

So, the Crows 1991 basically.

Reading that article and it looks like the "all stars" don't have an opponent for that game.
This brings me to the conclusion that there will be two all star teams made up.
So in effect there will be effectively two crow teams playing each other.

FFS the sanfl should have nothing to do with the women's league they can't even keep their own existing clubs in order and viable.

Port being screwed over by Gill and the sanfl.

The SANFL All Stars game is the 2nd of April, thats the curtain raiser for the Crows Showdown game round 2.
I'm guessing its been listed as SANFL All Stars, hopefully only 'for now'..
Initially the Crows wanted to have a women showdown, which is perfect, but they wanted to run the show and just use our guernsey.
KT said they won't be using the PAFC Guernsey unless they allowed us to field our own women side..
I'm not sure if KT is taking on this fight, but I personally think he should be.
We can't allow the SANFL to perform puppetry via the Crows and allow their favourite son to get a leg up on the AFL Womens team big.

Just Reeks of SANFL control + Crows look in the box seat for the first licence due to Gils pampering to their demands.

The SANFL and Crows would be fearful of allowing us to field our own side on the 2nd of April, as it could potentially ruin their bid if Port were able to pull together a much better side and kick them off the park.

We have a women's team already, we should probably be involved here. The AFL is playing peacekeeper as not to be seen as favouring one club or the other. IMO we won't be admitted until the Crows have a team too.

Not too long ago Queensland were being talked about for one of the first teams in - ahead of SA - supposedly because they have more women footy players than SA. They seem to have disappeared in this latest version.

AFL chief Gillon McLachlan likes Port Adelaide and Adelaide
fighting for women’s licence

"The AFL Commission next month will open a two-month tender process for the first AFL national women’s league licences. The concept — one of AFL chief executive Gillon McLachlan’s opening agenda items on taking charge at AFL House last year — is expected to expand from six to eight teams."

"Adelaide’s wish for a women’s Showdown as a curtain-raiser to the Crows-Power Showdown at Adelaide Oval on Saturday, April 2 has been blocked by Port Adelaide refusing to have its jumper used by a women’s team chosen by Adelaide and not associated with the Power."
