I don't see any interest factor generated unless they play curtain-raisers

From the YPCTimes." Moonta football talent Carron Daveson has returned after a tour of NZ with the AFL Indigenous Woomeras. The only thing in life you cant do is defy the law of gravity and other laws of science. The rest you can do, but it might break a man made law, but you have to be prepared to pay the price. I would be prepared to bet $1,000 there are no rules in place for a women's competition, so there are no laws to break or to adhere to.can we do what we did before we joined the afl and pay some of these ladies to stay out of the draft and play for us when we get in...

SANFL hands SA junior women’s talent pool to Port Adelaide as chase for AFL women’s licence heats up
PORT ADELAIDE is to command the SA junior women’s talent pool with SANFL endorsement - a win that may also give the Power the edge in the eager chase for an AFL national women’s league licence.
It is now increasingly likely that the inaugural AFL national women’s league - set to be launched next year as a short-form competition - will have no SA-based team.
SA’s entry, in a replica of how the national men’s AFL league was built, may not emerge until 2020. And by then Port Adelaide will have developed a deep talent base from the SANFL junior ranks.

I had to read that 3-4 times, as I wasn't sure I was reading it correctly.. SANFL hand something to Port. What's the catch?
Usually the word endorsement SANFL & Port are not words readily associated with each other, there must be more to this story!
The SANFL Thursday assigned the State under-18 women’s program to the Power. The league junior development program is now based at Port Adelaide’s Alberton centre where the SA under-18 group will have its trials and training. Port Adelaide’s AFL-standard facilities will be available to the State under-18 program - as will the Power coaches when requested by State coach Bill Economou.
SAWFL is a terrible acronym.
SAWFL is a terrible acronym.
SAWFL is an AWFL (Acronym With Five Letters)*Yes, it is rather AWFL.
So my reading is this is how the structure of Women's footy will look like in 2016
SAWFL
stays and they run the Adult and U/18 teams. 21 clubs with only Port and West being SANFL clubs with a women's team in this league, with most of the rest being tied up with SAAFL clubs and a few stand alone clubs or like MT barker in another league.

In 2012 The Port Adelaide Women’s Football Club (PAWFC) are very proud to announce that The Port Adelaide Football Club has invited the Women’s Club to join them as part of their “one Club” philosophy
This exciting move is allowing the Magpie Women to use the Nazar Reserve facility, located on Swan Terrace, Ethelton as a training base and home ground. This will also see PAWFC being invited to use the facilities at Alberton for training & home games on occasions throughout the coming seasons.
The partnership is evolving and is a great opportunity for the PAWFC to create its own piece of “Magpie” History as part of this iconic South Australian Football Club. In addition,an U18 team has been introduced in 2012 as the club grows in strength and numbers.

Crows
Have a concept and doing something with NT and adult women in bid to get first licence. From today's story

The Crows have also made an alliance with Northern Territory football, which Adelaide chief executive Andrew Fagan believes gives the club a head start and a valid claim to be part of the first national women’s competition.
“I think with the level of talent that exists in South Australia at this point in time, you’d only be able to have one team in the initial model,” Fagan said. “Even then, you’d have to work hard to ensure that it’s going to be competitive in the initial stages. “Which is why we’ve entered into a partnership with AFL NT, which would combine the talent of the NT with South Australia and provide effectively a central corridor solution that we think is quite compelling
.........
We’ve put a concept to the AFL that we think should address the core requirements to have a sustainable, well-supported and competitive team from 2017.

The article by Daniela Abbracciavento - I have no idea who she is and the quality of her research, says - "no formal links." If that means no legal "ownership" then that is correct, but if there is an understanding and arrangement as per 2012 and the PAWFC website said there was a partnership. It just doesnt sound like the sort of thing KT would do to invite them in and then tear up the partnership. seeing as growing our community base and ties is central to the clubs strategy since KT got there.I read an article a few weeks back that said the Port Adelaide women's team had no association with Port in the SANFL. It may have been the article about the new transgender coach (in fact it was)...

"Port Adelaide Women’s Football Club, which has no formal links with Port Adelaide Football Club, finished fourth in the SAWFL’s open division two last year."

Of course it is. The article said - "no formal link" - and I suspect the Messenger journo meant, they are separate legal entities with no common board members or staff or coaches. If she didnt then she doesnt know whatI thought the Port Adelaide Football Club gave the Port Adelaide Women’s Football Club exclusive training base and club room use of our old 'banished' Magpies digs at Nazar reserve next to Le Fevre high school? surely that's some form of affiliation ?
