Crows featured in a channel 10 news article with an open training session for women footballers today followed by a presser.
And this one on the ABC News last night.Crows featured in a channel 10 news article with an open training session for women footballers today followed by a presser.
One word: Injunction.Yeah, its on the Cows website.. Makes them look well and truly in the box seat for the first SA licence
I am pretty chuffed we will be able to develop the under 18 women at Port but I sure as hell don't want Cows to get the first AFL license and poach them once we have.LOL. If that's the level of skill on offer in SA, no wonder the AFL is going to bypass us.
Saw this story ABC News 24 about an hour ago. They look at the women training in Melbourne too get ready for the new women's league next year.

WrongIt's a bit of a cripple fight, really. If the AFL doesn't cover 100% of the costs, it will likely not be any sort of boon to either team and is unlikely to ever turn over more revenue than it costs, it's all about bonuses from the AFL for having a womens team.
I doubt we'll even have a womens team in SA until both the Crows and Port can field one, not just one.
What I like here is, once again, Port put in the time and effort at grass roots. I think this is important, whereas Crows just want to jump right in and get an AFL women's team without any real effort. Glad the women's Magpies are linking in. Port Adelaide will field a women’s team in the South Australian Women’s Football League – the highest competition for SA female football – in 2016.
The Port Adelaide Women’s Football Club – nicknamed the Magpies – began in 2003, and will formally partner with the Port Adelaide Football Club in 2016.
The women’s club will form part of Port Adelaide’s drive to impact the female football space in South Australia as the AFL and SANFL ramp-up their commitment to improving participation among women and girls.
As part of the commitment, Port Adelaide will operate training and development of the women’s team at Alberton in addition to providing exposure to the elite environment of an AFL club.
Power and Magpies coaches like Shaun Hart, Mark Clayton and Tom Logan will also work delivering elite seminars to the team.

This is big news. The AFL will take notice of this. Crows will probably copy our initiative.
