****** over by the umps. Westhoff with PTSD, never should he play against Geelong again.

We mostly played well and deserved to win.

And **** off Ch7 and Daisy with that shit-eating grin.
He played ok aside from set shots.

Pressure shots at goal have never been his strong suit

I'm half glad that this was on the national stage, first game of the round for the country to see, not buried in a twilight slot on a
Sunday afternoon against a bottom side.

If anyone in the national AFL media, anyone at all, has a set of balls they'll call out the incapability of the AFL and its umpires to officiate anything remotely fair or professional.

If the umpires were fair we'd have won, but that doesn't forgive:

Westhoff, Hartlett and Sam Gray all useless against quality opposition as usual. Delist the dwarf, let someone take Westhoff as a free agent and put Hartlett up for trade again, I don't give a **** if we're paying half his salary elsewhere.

Boak should hand over the Captaincy to Wines on the flight home. He doesn't lift the team when you most want a captain to. More likely to miss a shot on goal.

As for Ken, if we'd had another tall, either down back or up forward, we'd have won. His heightist selection policies combined with gold passes for mentally fragile players has consigned another season to the scrap heap.

'When neutral supporters are livid to see Port Adelaide lose, you know you've ****** up.' - Facebook guy, 2017

The guy on Facebook knows his shit. The only reassurance I got from that game is that I'm gonna be bloody ******* loud at Adelaide Oval next Thursday. The players better be ready to deliver some carnage.

The obvious missed frees to Robbie Gray anger me more than the Dixon play on call
Same. One of the problems with the Dixon call is that it will take all the post match attention, and plenty of the sitters that we didn't get will be forgotten.

Off the top of my head.
1) Sam Grays "unrealistic" attempt when he made contact with the ball at chest height
2) The 3 in a row frees finishing with an in the back where Menzel (I think) actively stoped and searched for contact.
3) Missed HTBs - most obviously Hawkins holding it for 3 years than throwing it. Another against Guthrie I think from a Pittard tackle with a clear throw.
4) Free against Dixon for, well, I'm not actually sure when Young was strolling in to an open goal, or Gray was going to have a shot 15m out.
5) Harry Taylors throw which was a direct goal assist.
6) Free against Wines for having the nerve to contest a mark.
7) Missed holds against Gray (many - did get paid one you could consider soft).
8) The high contact free that should've (if you take the previous several going their way) been paid to us prior to their winning goal.

Despite all that we had the chances to win the game, and this just adds to the long list of almost wins we've accumulated. Had we executed like we should've all this umpiring talk would just be a footnote.

As bad as tonight's umpiring was it wasn't as bad as Carlton '15.

Shot clock like milking an extra few minutes into a quarter when you're doing siren for under 8s.

There are 4 teams below us, all on 5 games and they play each other. So whatever the results by the end of the round there will be 2 more teams with 6 wins. We are 6th with a 5-4 record so will go to 8th, The next team, Melbourne has 4 wins so even if they win they cannot leap us.

Talk about feeling numb. Im 13,000 km away watching this game and I feel sick.

I'm going to be objective and ignore the umpires. Tonight we saw why we are a mid level team. To many of our players go missing in these big games. Impey, Amon, Young, Ah Chee, S Gray & Hartlett fading in and out. Until we fix this we aren't going to be competitive

I have had enough of Westhoff.

Has zero confidence kicking for goal. We can't carry guys who are not prepared to step up when needed.

Get Dougal in the team now!

Yeah this one. I was at the game, and if this is the one im thinking of (in the first quarter) I was wondering why it was paid a fk? I assumed he must not have touched it, but from where I was sitting it looked like he had

That game was the turning point of our season.

Believe it or not, there was a-lot I liked about that performance. Especially the boys looking really pissed off after the game. That loss stung. And will spur us on a good run from here to September.

It was somewhat uncharacteristic of recent Port: no fancy shit. Ugly af. Just tough, gritty, hard work. Geelong were the better team for most part. But we hung in there.

Lots of ifs, buts, maybes. Shoulda, coulda, wouldas. But didn't. Next time, we do it.

The premiership assault began tonight...

Magnificent post. Quoted for posterity.

If it was Butcher playing Ken would have told him he was dropped at quarter time.
