2nds Port Adelaide vs WWT Eagles - Trial Match 1 @ Alberton

Nield sounded like he did a couple of useful things. What type of player is he?

From Ross's commentary, Skinner clearly best on ground

Looked like Nield came on in the 5th and 6th quarter at half forward. Got in open spots to get chances at goal.

Also think Jase Burgoyne in the backline did well too. Last year in the few games he played, his defensive stuff was good, in this game he was better with the ball.

Hopefully Schofield (rolled ankle), and Dumont (concussion) are good to go for the next trial in 2 weeks. Both were in the middle prior to the injuies.

I think Nick Moore and Wildman had to fill in there a bit, Sutcliffe and Williams in there for small stints.

Sutcliffe for example should have been in there a lot more with the lack of depth we had at the time. Although next game our midfield should get a big boost with the AFL bench being cut down later (Mayes, Mead, McEntee), and a few probably returning from injury (Bergman, Motlop, Jackson).

I liked Schofield's game. He got a lot of the ball in and under, and distributed it well by hand. Unfortunately, because he's so small, I don't think he's got the weapons to have much impact at afl level.

Can see why despite his good performances he went to the rookie draft. Need to be truly exceptional at his height.

Lost by less than a goal due to an after the siren poster from a talented young footballer whose development has stagnated. Port Adelaide football is back, baby!
Did Butcher end up playing?

It will be interesting to watch Schofield this year. Was surprised to read he is taller than McEntee who looks close to AFL selection.

Jnr Schoey is probably better skilled and has the wheels to apply pressure and run through the midfield.

Jase Burgoyne could jump them all though, even in an unfamiliar position.

Jase Burgoyne has serious wheels. Can't wait to see him stream out of the middle like Peter. Wonderful player.
