There I was thinking I asked a reasonable question to your post and you imply that there is some sort of hidden agenda to this question... Yeah, whatever.

And yep there is a reason why they (Port) have so many 'mature' players with AFL experience playing at this level, they as a group simply don't make the grade.. the gap between VFL is immense...and is only getting bigger.

And I look forward to the thread you create... I'm sure it will make for some fascinating reading.

But isn't this point called into question by the relative success of players like Morris, Boyd, Picken, Markovic, Silvagni, Pods..etc?

Mulligan - I know he is young, but was deplorable and should have been moved sooner.
Wilbur - dumb football, not young any more, no leadership, no excuses.
Howard - showed good signs, has got grunt and delivers well, will only get better.
Tutt- quite, but did well the few times he had it.
Wallis- coaches havn't worked him out yet, he is not a tagger. He is an in under extractor a la Sam Mitchell, that needs to work on his kicking and tank.
DJ - for each one thing he does well, he does two stupid things. Lacks the tank and skill at AFL level Atm.
Stack- wasn't the worst Bulldogs out there.
Addison - see Stack.
Hill - is already in Perth in his head.
Panos - very postive moevement, hands and set shots.

Gee, if he wasn't the worst, he was bloody close to it!

- I can only disagree with you on the point about howard. For every 6 targets he hits he would miss four. His efficiency %'s would be no better than any other player.

- Totally agree re: Wallis. Because he is that sort of player will find it tough to break into dogs teams with Boyd, Cross, Libba etc in the team.

- Panos best attribute (and this is saying something cause of his set shot kicking) is his decision making. I have seen him in at least 10 games this year and only seen him make a bad decision maybe 3 or 4 times. Always seems to have time to go back assess the right option and execute. Thats what I liked about him at CHB.

For every 1 that makes it there's probably another 20 or more that don't... or don't get the opportunity to.

You could almost say the same thing about the players who enter the national draft. I'd rather take a chance on a very good VFL player playing against men than a late draft pick on an ordinary kid.

I just think it'd be a step backwards to re-draft someone we'd already seen and considered not up to it

If I remember correctly though it wasn't that Lynch wasn't up to more that he had persistent hamsting injuries and a fairly lax attitude on the training track, otherwise he was considered a better prospect than Harbrow and Hill.

If he's ironed out those issues I'd give him another chance based on our needs although apparently GWS have their eye on him according to Mark Stevens.

Do you think Matty has or can develop the tank to play there though(or CHF really)? Because I completely agree with your assessment on his decision making.

The coaching was hopeless who's decision was it to leave Mulligan on Galea all day -Go to the dunces corner -----------It cost Williamstown the game Galea was instrumental in at least 8 goals.
We had a thread on this sight the worst player ever to play for Footscray / WB Football club- Mulligan is no 1 on that list by a long shot.
How he ever played for the seniors this year is just amazing he's built like Tarzan and playes like Jane.

Hopefully our new coach watched this debacle and now realises we need a serious rebuild not a "refresh". The excuse that we played kids against men doesn't hold for 8-10 of our players.

Whats with all this Tutt praise, he went missing. Up until deep in the 4th quarter when tutt had the shot on goal the HUD came up showing he only had 4 touches

Horrible today:
Hooper
Tutt
Addison
Barlow
Hahn
Minson
Howard
Stack
Reid
Mulligan - PLEASE DELIST HIM.
Wallis
Roughead

It is depressing stuff when DJ is one of your better players. Only positive is Panos.

Not sure I would put Tutt at the top of the "horrible list"! Yes maybe he was a bit quiet on the weekend but looking at the game how many times was he out on his own, when the switch was on and no one bothered to try it or use him? Maybe the coach should be at the top of the "horrible list" - why didn't he make changes when he saw that the boys were getting beaten.

Remember the old saying - its hard to soar like an eagle when you are flying with turkeys.....;)

You mean like Andrew Krakeour had his at Richmond?
I know I know, but seriously he's had an Ok year in a dominant team.. We've had a look at him before and decided to part ways. While I'm sure he'd be a good back up player, I haven't seen much in his year to suggest he would take the AFL by storm.. And we already have enough handy backup players.. We need young talent, not recycled goods

Think you're being a little harsh on young Howie, he can miss targets at times but that's because he's not afraid to take risks with his kicks. He actually does back himself which you have to admire and is a beautiful kick. If anything he tries to kick the air out of the ball at times but will get better with experience.

B&F

Congratulations to Ben Jolley for winning the Gerry Callahan Medal in 2011. Jozza was a runaway leader from Brett Johnson in 2nd and Brett Goodes and Will Minson in a tie for third.

Matthew Cravino has taken out the Development Best and Fairest by 8 votes from Kwame McHarg.
