Port requests for Gold Coast to change home guernsey

Why is this obvious?

Seems more obvious that Port didn't really think things through.

To me it's obvious if it was agreed upon earlier this wouldnt be an issue now.

I do find the commentary on here about how the whole China business came about quite funny.
Watching posters write so much about who did what, with no inkling or idea about what has happened the last 3 years to get to this point.
Hint. Port Adelaide did not just "rock up".
Worst one was "Get Adelaide to play Gold Coast instead"
What a crock of shit.

How is that relevant to my post? Please enlighten me.

Clearly you have done all the leg work totally agree, just should have made it part of the deal GC wear white its too late now.

Kochie's main argument is that it was in the contract. If it can clearly be stated that it was or wasn't then this will be over. Personally sick of the (mostly) Essendon and Hawthorn fans who keep going "lol poort keep crying, kochie's a ****head, go gold coaste" etc. really to just get at the nerves of Port fans when we're making heaps of legroom for everyone else.

They didn't do all the leg work, if they'd done all the leg work they would've had a home game. The whole thing has been half baked from port's end.
Our contract says we can't move a home game. I'm sure we would if we could.

Fair enough, yeah that is handbag swinging on an internet forum stuff. Still I doubt its in the agreement otherwise this wouldnt be an issue now.

The Port way.

I wish Port supporters could separate the good and bad, but it seems they only see bad.

Yes China is a fantastic opportunity and Port should be congratulated and praised for venturing into the area. I for one hope it pays off big time. I will be jealous of those supporters who will travel to China and stand proudly on an international stage.

But there are many many questions that are valid. The main criticism is David Koch and his bull-at-the-gate style. He isn't winning any friends. Ok some might see this is Port Adelaide Style, but it rubs many the wrong way. Secondly and related to Koch is the 'Contract'. Please just show us this contract and many will scurry back to the ratholes.

Instead of focusing on the game the main talking point seems to be jumper colour. As businessmen KT and Koch should have tied that up on the first page. But they took their eyes off the ball. But 'we thought of it' . If this is how Port do business then it wasn't the SANFL 'cockblocking' , it was Port expecting to be Port and not doing the hard yards.

Not a shot just a genuine question: How hard do you think the PAFC tried?

How hard do you think the AFL has tried to get their product broadcast to the Chinese market every week?

The question you've asked is inversely proportional to the one I've asked.

If they can't move a home game then why try to organise it? GC seem to have done Port a massive solid by agreeing to this. Furthermore if they dont want to work with GC again what are they going to have to offer other clubs to move their home game for the advancement of Port?

Why didn't you say you couldn't answer the question

I believe the AO contract ends this year, maybe their planning on moving permanently to Shanghai?

We're contracted to play 7 at Etihad and 4 at the 'G. Maybe we should sign a deal to play a game in Mumbai. Another team can shift one of their games and we can complain about the colour of their jumper.

and want to have a couple of things our way, which we are definitely entitled to, mind you, I can only say, pull your heads in.
But this is a business deal. There are no freebies in business just because you want them. Port have done great work in the massive part they have played in making this happen, thats absolutely true. But the AFL have invested in this and so have Gold Coast. There is a chance that this disrupts our season in a variety of ways and its only possible because the AFL and GC came to the table with selling a home game. Unless there is a contract agreeing that GC will not wear their red and yellow strip, Port are not entitled to dictate what the opposition wears. Those are our colours, they matter to us. This is still a good deal for eveyone, Koch is being greedy.

Playing against the suns was always going to cause problems for Port, even if they wore away gear, just being the Suns is likely to make them a more attractive team to support than Power, the jumper f@#k up just makes it worse.
Lets be honest who would the AFL rather see succeed in China, a club they pretty much own and run or Power?
