You are assuming Joe hasn't paid his fines because he can't afford to. He actually hasn't paid his fines because he knows how to manipulate the system and will pay the fines when it suits him, if that day ever comes. But the flaw in your argument is do you honestly think Crows supporters buy the paper to read the crap Rucc writes about the Crows? If anything it turns readers off. Its hardly going to sell more papers. And as he seems to write the majority of articles on us eventually more people will not buy the paper. I subscribe to the Advertiser and when its up Im seriously considering not renewing and I will be letting them know why.

It's sales are up, it's advertising sales are up and it's stories are discussed more and more on radio, online and between people each and every day of the week......including Rucci's articles.

So your crediting Rucci for an increase in sales? That has to be the biggest load I have ever read. The fact his articles get discussed, mostly criticised, is irrelevant to an increase in circulation, especially if people are getting annoyed with what he is writing about. Sure some people may be getting annoyed and have been for years/decades now on Rucci (and plenty of other 'commercial media' journalists before him) but if the sales/income/revenue continues to grow the shareholders are more than happy.

I think dk's entitled to roll his eyes all he likes when you imply that what Rucci writes will hurt sales, but deny what he writes will boost sales -talk about having your cake and eating it too.

How do you think the Advertiser works? That Rucci just writes what he feels like and orders it to be included? He's only the Chief Football Writer. He's not even the Sports Editor let alone the paper's Editor. You don't suppose that these people, whose vested interest in the company and by extension their jobs, is to decide what gets included on the basis of what is most likely to benefit sales? And they don't seem to be stopping him.

And getting back to your original point, if Rucci did compare arrests/reports on a per attendance basis between the two clubs, that's not discrediting the crows, it's exposing the facile arguments that KG & Cornes put forward to dissuade people from going to a Port home game. Unless you consider Cornes (as an official crows ambassador) and KG (as a self-proclaimed crows cheerleader) to be an extension of the club.

My assumption was pretty clear in that Rucci's articles continue to be discussed despite what some people say about not reading them........every post/comment/radio discussion about any of his articles is a win for News Ltd and that's all they are interested in as it brings in $$'s.

The fact that sales and profits continue to go up each year seems to indicate otherwise.

As for a 'real' cheap shot..........you and others continue to blame a journalist for writing articles that senior management/board encourage a journalist to write as it's them not the journalists that set the tone of articles printed in a 'commercial' publication........always has been and always will be.

Well people have been complaining about him and other journalists in News Ltd publications for decades now but still continue to write for them as their sales and advertising revenue continues to grow.

yes this is true and nothing has changed its still the same, so why should rucci have to change? u have the majority of the media anyway in this state let us have our token media man.

Good to see you are making up more baseless accusations as I don't see posts here defending Rucci at all unless you mean the ones trying to explain to you how commercial media works that you continue to completely ignore......

I also have no idea at all why you even bring up whether he enjoys it or not as you seem to completely miss the fact that employees follow the instructions of their employers otherwise employers generally get rid of them.....
